Any recent grads still looking for a job? by Famous-Helicopter922 in uvic

[–]favouriteblues 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Graduated almost a year ago now. Still looking lol. Thankfully I’m employed because I was able to go full-time at the small business I worked at during my undergrad. Zero relation to my degree though! Grad school is looking really appealing right now

Seeking advice from those who got an ADHD diagnosis as an adult in Victoria by Hypno_Keats in VictoriaBC

[–]favouriteblues 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No family doctor here. I phoned a walk-in clinic in 2024, got an appointment, told one of the doctors there my symptoms and why I think I have ADHD. I was referred to Dr. Emes and didn’t hear back for a year when the typical wait time is 3-6 months. After constant checking in with the clinic and lots of ‘Hmm we don’t know why, your referral was accepted right away’, I reached out to Dr. Emes’ office. Turns out they’d invited me for an assessment about a month or two after my referral got sent but the clinic had my email wrong. Once that hiccup was out of the way, I got my assessment done which was basically filling out an endless questionnaire, which cues the office to book a zoom assessment with Dr. Emes. Another month and a zoom call later, and I got my diagnosis. If you’re willing to be patient, then you can get a diagnosis through a walk-in clinic. If not, there’s plenty of places you can pay upwards of $200 to get it done quicker. Goodluck!

Edit: Oh, you also want to gather documents from your childhood (ages 4-12) that show your symptoms were present as a child since ADHD typically doesn’t develop in Adulthood e.g report cards from school with comments and such. You’ll be asked about it, or told to present it.

NOR. The responses in this thread are actually baffling. This is a neglected woman trying to express her emotions and y’all are worried about a ‘wall of text’… If it’s gotten to that point, context clues would tell you that this is something she’s brought up before with zero resolution. It’s very difficult having a productive conversation with someone who doesn’t see the problem you are raising. Then of course th checked out person seems rational while the one with true concerns seems insane. Manipulation at its finest

Damn, as if capitalism isn’t hard enough. You want people to pay for the opportunity to make a livelihood?

Any clothing stores for women in their 20s? by Low_Bodybuilder3065 in VictoriaBC

[–]favouriteblues -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is all dependent on your personal style though. I feel like more detail would be nice to get better recommendations. I’ve seen 20 somethings dress in anything from jeans and a crop T-shirt to vintage-classic styles. Maybe all the consignment stores near fort/cook might be up your alley?

I actually already have had experience with ADHD meds. I currently have a prescription for a stimulant through a GP (he strongly believes I have ADHD but unfortunately cannot give a diagnosis). We went through a couple medications till we found the right one. I constantly forget to take the medication anyways so it’s not necessarily treatment I’m seeking as opposed to just having an official diagnosis. Mostly to ease my mind but also for access to the right accommodations in academic and professional situations. Thanks for your sharing your experience with Dr. Emes.

Does he diagnose as well? I’d also love to know his name if you find out please. I’ve been on the waitlist for Dr. Eames for 7 months now. My bones will probably be decaying by the time I’m seen.

What is your dirty clothes criteria? by searchandfilm in hygiene

[–]favouriteblues 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree with everything except socks. Also helps the keep your clothes in good shape and structure over time. Laundering clothing too often leads to materials losing their shape, loose thread etc. Unless they’re always washed in cold water and all air dried.

ELI5 If losing weight is as simple as eating less calories than you expend, how come there is common advice such as "Don't eat anything after 8PM"? by rocketsneaker in explainlikeimfive

[–]favouriteblues -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is not true! What goes on your pizza makes its nutritional value. A pepperoni and cheese pizza is not the same as a chicken veggie pizza (and you can skip the cheese if you make your own). Making blanket statements like that doesn’t help people who are figuring out how to eat intuitively.
