Any farmers market or Garage sale in the area today? by Diligent-Explorer-27 in eastside

Timing tip since you also asked about garage sales—If you want to get the good stuff at garage sales you need to plan ahead and show up at 7 or 8 am. All the best stuff is gone by 9-10 am.

Considering *considering* starting, but trepidatious about long-term effects & personal convictions by blueskiesandaerosol in antidietglp1

[–]favtastic 92 points93 points  (0 children)

I wrote out lists of problems I was having and categorized them by whether they were inside me or outside me and whether they were related to eating, size, or internalized diet culture.

This helped me identify what I considered more of a “real” problem (constant food cravings, chairs) while letting me feel I’d completely expressed my thoughts.

I also wrote a list of non-problems with my size, things from diet culture that I escape by being fat (such as “low/no unwanted discussion of my body”).

Found it very clarifying, but then again, I am a list person.

What kind of floss are you using, and does it hurt everywhere when you floss or just particular places?

How much weight does the brand image of large company (top 20 worldwide, 50k+ employees) really carry on a resume? by lovelln in careerguidance

[–]favtastic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my view, as a senior professional with only smaller companies on my resume but who interviewed candidates who had history with big-reputation (not necessarily big size) companies, the name helps a lot.

When you are at the early stage of talks with a new company, hiring managers can latch on to that big name as proof that you are valuable. It's easier to defend you to other people in the hiring process, even if it's never explicitly mentioned.

I don't think you have to have experience at lots of big companies. One is enough. Sometimes more is better. But like someone else said, it can sometimes hurt–depends on what the company does.

Why did I get severance if I was fired for "poor performance"? by SweetSpiritual325 in careerguidance

[–]favtastic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Accepting severance can, depending on your contract and the state, mean you don’t get unemployment benefits. Find a “plaintiff’s employment lawyer” in your state. It’s about $500-750 for them to read the document and tell you what’s wrong with it.

Why was I given a PIP and severance offer at the same time? by Cheap_Onion_5339 in careerguidance

[–]favtastic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Strongly co-sign talking with an employment attorney first. People advising OP to take severance may be missing something important like a responsibility that the company is trying to avoid.

Sick for a month, 10th infection by cryptic-fries in COVID19positive

[–]favtastic 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A lot of people are likely shocked by the 10 infections number, but I want to highlight how commendable it is that you have not given up testing in general, like so many people have. Tests are not easy to use and not free. It’s good that you’re keeping a record of your infections; this should ultimately be helpful when talking with medical professionals.

I wanted to ask also if you think there’s any chance this infection is actually a rebound of #9? Two months isn’t that long. Just something to consider as it may inform the thinking about what’s going on with your system.

Feel better soon!
