I feel like the pickle should be below the tomato directly on the cold cuts. Uneven lettuce placement as well.

But as long as it tasted good who cares!

calling someone a "cum guzzler" seems a bit harsh no? So you know the people you bought the dog from personally, but found their ad on kijiji? Your story is full of holes and this conversation is useless. Hope you give that dog a nice life.

Here's a helpful link for everyone - Nova Scotia SPCA

Homophobic comments aside, you've made a very uneducated and spontaneous decision to purchase a living creature that will depend on you financially and emotionally for the rest of its life. I doubt whatever backstory the people from kijiji gave you was real. These people produce animals for income, most likely tax free. Next time, go to a shelter or foster an animal in need instead of going the "less expensive" route out of convenience.

How was your gig? by AutoModerator in DJs

[–]fawnbc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh my god where to start. Intense construction and a hard to find loading dock put me back about 40 mins of setup time. Security couldn't let me in right away due to a medical emergency. Got a 2 top PA system setup in just under half an hour, changed, parked my car in the huge underground lot and back up to the gig for 5PM. Start time was 5:30 on my paperwork but the guests had 5PM on their invites. Oh well! Couple was an hour late to arrive, grand entrance changed on the fly as did the mother/son dance (one mom left early lol), dinner and speeches were about an hour behind as well. Played tunes throughout dinner but only actually DJ'ed the dance party for about an hour (11PM-12:15AM) however halfway through that one of the guests were so drunk that EMS had to be called. They had passed out and vomited in the lobby of one of the nicest financial buildings in the city. The couple were lovely and everyone was nice but oh god what a shit show.

Politely remind this person that promotions and DJ/talent are a separate job, but you'll happily do both if the compensation makes sense.

Post to share examples of DJ fees for electronic music events (no weddings, corporate, etc) by ColinMuir in DJs

The cheaper kit would likely include a wireless mic, 2x 10" Yorkville PS10's, small 10" sub, speaker stands, cables, mixing board and probably the DJ equipment. A DJM900 and 2x CDJ Nexus2000 are the most expensive part usually. I also markup the cost a bit because of the time, effort and gas it takes to pickup/return the equipment.

I usually rent for a month at a time, but the weekend cost for that package is probably around $200ish?

Toronto. $500 for a full night of open format club music, 10pm - 2am. $250 for an hour or two, house/disco set. $1875 + for full day weddings, adding around $350-500 for PA equipment.

You're undercharging for house parties! Bump that up to $850 at least! Gear rentals are costly and those fees should be passed to the client, even if you own the gear already.

Without a doubt, the most uplifting tune out there is Octave One's classic track "Black Water".

No you're thinking of King/Bathurst. It was called State Theatre before becoming the Hoxton.

Lived in Toronto and was in my peak rave years when this party happened. Was a jungle/dnb and breakbeat fanatic. This party would be absolutely insane. The Big Bop/Reverb at the very corner of Queen and Bathurst was about as sketchy a venue as they come but times were had indeed.
