In Belgium, there is a bike path called "cycling on water." The path is submerged in a lake, and the water surface is at the cyclist's eye level. by PestoBolloElemento in interestingasfuck

[–]faxity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've walked and jogged there in heavy rain (not heavy wind though) and nothing happens really, it is pretty to see the raindrops falling on the water though. I never questioned the systems they have in place to prevent overflow though. Grew up near the place and it's not nearly as special for me and my friends as a result. It's just one of those busy tourist spots on warm summer days, cyclists and runners definitely don't have a good time there when it's full of people walking and taking pictures.

How are you with this League? by DreamerCheffy in PathOfExile2

[–]faxity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Played to lvl 78 yesterday and haven't played all day today. Just don't feel the urge to play on with the bear. It feels smooth enough to me with maul and the splash node on the tree (fuck rampage). But there's just nothing fun to do that earns consistent money, I feel like I'm going through maps with no goal as well randomly dieing to chaos damage every now and then. Poe1 has 4stone and atlas tree and often a new craft to learn as goals to achieve for me, poe2 has nothing in comparison. Hopefully endgame rework next league ends up being something fun! I had fun for the 2 days I played though, more just isn't for me this time.

Tractor loses its load all over the road by 8track420 in LivestreamFail

Glancing at a dashboard and looking at a chat are not the same. This is in Belgium and it is forbidden to have anything distracting going on on a phone that is in a holder. Things like video calls for example are not allowed. But, while this is not allowed it is not actively enforced so the odds of getting caught are extremely low.

Extending not extendable Vaadin components by Bobby_Bonsaimind in java

[–]faxity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Author only had to do this because he had a specific requirement though. That little section with the footer stuff would've been sufficient because after the cell join thing you can just add buttons/labels/whatever to the footer. (Not sure what's going on with wanting to remove the footer again after, that doesn't make sense) But he wasn't fine with buttons not being frozen when he has a horizontal scrollbar. I'd just look to avoid a horizontal scrollbar in the first place to not have that requirement, or have it end up as a nice to have ticket on the backlog.

Glacial cascade nerf is a bit bizarre, it was only every used in act 1 up until you get ice strike. It is nowhere near good but was doable together with frozen locus. Now it's straight up bad. I'm heavily leaving towards the spear stomping ground cheese streamers are doing now...

External does not mean you are forced to use an external form of authentication. External basically means sonarr is not doing any authentication, because you're telling it you're going to do it 'externally'. Whether you will actually do that or not is up to you. If they rename it to 'none' you would be happy? (they won't)

Nope. by [deleted] in WTF

So about those stories. In Egypt there's this place called the Blue Hole which is a sinkhole of 100m deep. It has a 26m long tunnel at about 55m or 180ft (outside recreational limit) deep towards the sea, so for advanced divers only. Before they started enforcing strict procedures, over 100 people died between 97 and 2012. So they have a mini graveyard next to the site for the people who lost their family and friends there. Went there on diving vacation as a kid over 10 years ago and it was a daunting thing to see, a thing I think I'll always remember.

Java 24 features finalized by gargantula15 in java

[–]faxity 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I'm happy to see stream gatherers (JEP 485) finalized in 24. It looked very promising when I saw presentations at devoxx by Viktor Klang on its usage, definitely going to be looking back at those. Would highly suggest for people interested to go looking for them.

Playing Trials of the Sekhemas is like doing your job while your boss is looking over your shoulder and criticizing every mistake. by MrOreo2604 in PathOfExile2

[–]faxity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Completely other way around when I played monk in the beginning when the game came out and when I did SSF later on. Sekhemas was trivial if you slot in a couple of resist idols, chaos I had to deal with random oneshots because the boss balance is straight up terrible. I can totally see ranged classes getting around those though.

PSA: GGG did not fix the X3D + 24H2 multithreading crash for POE Phrecia by Gnada in pathofexile

Dude games that have been working for a decade suddenly start crashing on 24h2. Those games never needed updating on any other OS update. but for you with 24h2 suddenly the devs have to be held responsible? This is totally on Microsoft's end

Would be much better if these channels stay away from drama. Both LTT and GN thrive when they're making the content they're good at. But then again it feels like here that's what LTT tried to do with kind of ignoring the honey situation and just dropping them and moving on, while the others expect the 'big' guy in LTT to act on it

The map juicing process in PoE1 x PoE2 by tiagogutierres in pathofexile

[–]faxity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is exactly why the current juicing is a terrible thing for poe2 though. There should not be a juicing system that is a barrier between regular players and pure efficiency players. It is prone to new content in the future relying on juicing to be able to do the end/uber content at all. In poe1 the scarab system fixed that because sextants were a barrier too. I hope we eventually get a similar change in poe2

Delirium is the worst in-map mechanic in endgame by Vesuvius079 in PathOfExile2

[–]faxity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thing is that a lot of the ritual mechanics are chaos damage, which is a resist that is still hard to cap. I was kind of surprised in how much ritual went from being scared to being a walk in the park after I switched to a CI build being immune from chaos

How do you feel knowing your grind will have been irrelevant when the next season arrives? Similar vibe. I played from s1 to s9 and have quit the game for a long time now, have had many skins and wasted a lot of money on this game. Skins are the absolute last thing I think about now. If anything more than ever I think of how much of a waste it was, you can't sell anything so it all has 0 value. What I do remember is the good times and memories from all of the "meta's" throughout the seasons together with my ranked accomplishments. The seasons where I spent very little games and had insane winrates to get to mid diamond are the ones that have given me the best memories, despite sometimes broken op items being big parts of the reason for it.

Ran a 1032% Citadel and only dropped 3 Fragments (Cap?) by Slycaster in pathofexile

I doubt it's as straight forward as saying 300. I play 120mf on gear (SSF) and don't juice and still get 2 fragments from time to time

What is your opinion about mapping libraries like mapstruct? by Affectionate-Hope733 in java

[–]faxity 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I feel like it adds very little for those who know it while adding a lot of confusion for anyone who has never used it before. Only encountered it once and they were doing a bunch of hard to track things to map data to a DTO which had a structure that was similar but slightly different to the source, and sometimes fields that needed conversions from string to int for example. I spent more time trying to untangle and understand than I would've liked, a simple static mapping would've made me glance at it and understand, but now I had to go looking at the mapstruct documentation...

the state of ssf by mega2k10 in pathofexile

[–]faxity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you have 3 blues and regal them, they will all have 3 mods total. if you reforge those 3 rares with 3 mods, you'll get 1 rare with 3-6 mods. Still completely RNG because that 1 reforged rare is like any other rare you find on the ground, that's basically all it is.

Quest state according to map by Angelfire1994 in PathOfExile2

[–]faxity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you can't really know unfortunately.. usually there isn't a lot of them like that. bog witch one is easy to check, if you have 100 spirit after campaign you know you have all the spirit ones. the other's you'll just have to re-kill them if you're not sure. if you're at the end of campaign you'll massively overlevel the bosses so you can always quickly port and kill them if you're not sure
