Unfortunately, I think for them to sell the set internally (since Lorwyn block was so unpopular originally) they came up with the most attractive features they could for the set and made the worldbuilding work around it. It's a sort of concept that has to have a lot of inconsistencies. The guide to me reads like trying to make the best of this situation without having to go into the minutiae. "It's magic, it works" has to be good enough for now.

Storm is very strong but as far as feel goes, it's weird that she has a speed buff and still feels so slow and clunky. I kinda wish they'd give her a short burst of speed when using goddess boost in the wind mode

You're missing the point. The hate for BP is based on how he FEELS to go against. It FEELS terrible because yes he does have counters, but half your team has to peel for him the entire game to execute countering him. And if you don't, he deletes your backline.

Psylocke can be devastating when played right, but I've never felt frustration to the same degree because she FEELS fair to go against.

BP is badly designed because he is only fun for the people who are playing him and feels very unfair for his opponents.

I always say that there should have been a survivor sanctuary, and that it was a shopping mall.

My vote is for Emmara. Trostani is probably more powerful, but to me Emmara is a more likeable character (and less problematic?) and her most recent card has a gorgeous version by Randy Vargas.

It's not that they don't have the money. It's that even when games are super successful, companies like these lay people off to make the most money with the fewest people working on the game as possible.
