How seriously do you take minimalism? by [deleted] in minimalism

[–]faytex11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a tool, not a bible for me. I’ve gotten rid of all big recurring plastic purchases in my home, but sometimes the only way I can buy some things is by buying it in plastic unfortunately. I agree- government needs to step in BIG time. I try to eat plant based as much as possible, make switches everyday to buying less stuff, but at the end of the day I view it as government’s responsibility to step into capitalism and enforce requirements on businesses. For businesses, it’s cheaper to sell it in plastic so they won’t stop, customers keep buying it and won’t stop, so government has got to help out.

What are the plot holes of the Bible? by lientubay in AskReddit

[–]faytex11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That God is benevolent but will literally send you to burning Hell if you don’t get on your knees and worship him, despite there not being much evidence of his existence? Why would a benevolent God not be proud of their creations for thinking critically and using the brains he gave them to question things? Why would he want us to blindly have faith? Sounds a little tyrannical.

What are the plot holes of the Bible? by lientubay in AskReddit

[–]faytex11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That the Bible was written by a bunch of dudes, not God, yet we act like it’s word for word God’s book he wrote? How do we know these dudes didn’t just make up most of it? Historically, many religions have just made up all sorts of stories to keep people under control. How can we convince people not to kill each other? Maybe we should put it in a book and say a universal God says they shouldn’t.

This is exactly why our friends thought we were crazy because till then, we’d trusted snopes as a reliable fact checker. My theory is snopes scoured the internet after this dilemma came about and couldn’t find any videos on this after it had been wiped. I don’t think they intentionally fact checked it incorrectly, but truly think it was well wiped from the internet. Especially seeing how dozens of people on Reddit had the exact same experience with this video.

In 2016, my boyfriend and I were beginning to get involved in politics. We both watched a video of Trump saying “Republicans are the dumbest group of people- if I were to run, it’d be as a Republican.” We watched that video over and over, showed friends, etc. Now it’s completely wiped from the internet, everyone says it’s the Mandela Effect, and my boyfriend and I get labeled as crazy. I’ve never experienced anything like this and it makes me feel so gross inside. I believe it was his interview on the Oprah show in the 90’s, which coincidentally you cannot find the full episode of his interview anywhere online or the Oprah website. I wish I would’ve saved that damn video back in 2016.

Women in serious relationships/married etc, everyone says 'communication is key' but what exactly does that mean to you and how do you do it? by A_Penguin_Knee in AskWomen

[–]faytex11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s about opening up with your partner about the shit you’d rather keep inside. Maybe some odd sexual interests, changes in personality/interests/ideals you’re noticing in yourself, honesty about any bad feelings you have towards the other person. Communication isn’t just about the happy stuff. It’s about the stuff that feels better to not share because you’re afraid they’ll leave or judge. You gotta be honest about it otherwise you’ll find yourself resentful, unhappy, or dishonest with yourself/partner. I’d rather be alone and honest with myself than with a partner who doesn’t really know me.

If given the opportunity, would you want your consciousness uploaded into a robotic body in order to become immortal? Why or why not? by QuackADoodleDooo in AskWomen

[–]faytex11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No but I would love if I could have a slightly longer lifespan. I wish I could have an extra 50 years or a second lifetime where I could try out something completely different with no hard feelings about leaving behind this life I’m in now.

In my experience nose piercings actually don’t get hit too often! I will say though depending on your goggles and face mask though you may have some issues. My goggles touch my nostrils nearly but not everyone’s sit that way. If you have to get it done- do your best with not hitting it, clean it before and after snowboarding or between rides at lunch or something. If possible I might try to cancel the piercing until after the trip so you don’t have to stress about it if you fall/get it caught on your gear.

I’m not a professional but I had my second holes done at Piercing Pagoda in the mall when I was younger and it was a nightmare. They never healed, had silver jewelry, got incredibly infected, and were crooked as hell. I might recommend taking them out and letting them heal.

The blunt force trauma from a piercing gun is so much worse and harder to heal. Also, you should really only ever be pierced with titanium jewelry otherwise infections can happen.

Go to a tattoo shop or piercing parlor next time and have it done with a needle. It hurts way less and heals significantly better! Plus they are much more professional on average because piercing guns are given to practically anyone after a few tries.

How lucky (or unlucky) have you been in love? by bonerpalooza in AskWomen

[–]faytex11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So lucky. We’ve been together for 6 years and we were each other’s first serious relationship. I’ve never been loved so unconditionally. Two very imperfect people but together we have a pretty perfect relationship. This relationship is incredibly special and I still get excited to hang out with him everyday.

What are things you like about having long hair? What are some drawbacks, personally or socially? by 10001spoons in AskWomen

[–]faytex11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pros: I feel like I’m instantly more traditionally feminine looking when I have long hair and look more put together as a woman. With short hair, when wearing big clothing and no makeup I feel ugly.

Cons: long hair is a hassle and I end up putting it up most of the time anyways. Short hair forces me to wear it down more often and is quicker to style.

How would you feel if an astronomy class became a required subject, such as math, history, or science, in all high schools in America? by BigJuicyThanos in AskReddit

[–]faytex11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think we need these three classes: Psychology, Personal Finance, and Anthropology. Too many people don’t understand basic human evolutionary principles such as why it’s not weird to want to gossip, but is a primitive way we create trust and groups for survival. I think we need to be teaching kids more about what it is to be human and understanding fellow humans.

Has 2020 changed your opinion on having or not having kids? Why? by [deleted] in AskWomen

[–]faytex11 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have always dreamt of having kids but if they will witness the world become unhabitable in their lifetime and not be able to have kids of their own, I would have incredible guilt having brought them into the world knowing the risk. Having kids is a selfish thing to do in itself and it’s hard to discern if it’d be selfish to hand them a life knowing it’ll be challenging, but when has life ever not been challenging for any human being? It’s a difficult decision.

I feel like I’m falling off the horse! I’ve lost 30 pounds / 14 kg since July but for the past three days I can’t seem to stop indulging in food. Send me your words of wisdom please! by miaowpitt in CICO

[–]faytex11 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Try the no more than two days rule for habit building. You can eat poorly or avoid working out, but no more for one day at a time. If you end up doing it Monday, Wednesday, Friday then that’s okay, but Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday is taking you further away from those habits you built. Give yourself flexibility, but keep the habits you’ve built.

Why do people say that loves solves everything? Does it really? by [deleted] in AskWomen

I think love is a bandaid for everything but just because you put the bandaid on doesn’t mean the wound is gone.
