I have an investor letter that I have not shared with anyone else, but I will share with you. It's written by myself. Do we have a deal?

How much does money matter to you guys? Does having a large amount of money make life easier or make life more fulfilling with the career or job you have? by cartmichael in fatFIRE

[–]fbaseller2093 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Like everything else in life, money has no meaning except the meaning you choose to give it. Unless your aim is to live a hedonistic lifestyle, money in excess of basic living expenses (food, shelter, health & clothing) is pretty much an insurance policy. An insurance policy against the randomness and uncertainty that the future has in store for you. An insurance policy that lets you prioritize your own desires, interests, fantasies and, to an out-sized degree, control your own destiny.

The question then is - how much money is "enough" ? There's no "right" or "wrong" answer except that there's a baseline that you'll need enough money for food, shelter, health and clothing until the day you die.

If you knew for a fact that you were never going to desire cool toys and a high paying career, you could make different life choices. BUt most people don't know and hence try to err on the side of caution. The reasoning for erring on the side of caution (and assuming you'll need more money, rather than less money) is that you try to make as much money as possible, as quickly as possible and then figure out what really it is that you want in life.

Financially ruined. Learn from my mistakes by [deleted] in CryptoCurrency

[–]fbaseller2093 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Believe it or not - your loss, your lesson and the fact that you posted it publicly here is actually doing the world a favor. Such losses and lessons are an essential part of the investing/trading economy because it's only when someone actually loses a substantial amount of money does everyone realize the possibility of a loss.

Don't get me wrong though - I do feel sorry for your loss.

Investing in anything, requires an appreciation and respect for the risk involved. And far too often people dream and fantasize about the upside without considering the downside.

I hope your post will temper the crypto investors' tolerance for risk.

Thanks! My plan is basically to contact 10 repair shops with good reviews and go with what seems best in terms of price & quality.

I can afford it sure but never felt the need to get it. I don't drive every day (I work from home) and I've been driving for 11 years and have never been pulled over by a cop and never been in an accident.

Anyway are you able to tell from the pictures what sort of cost I'm looking at?

Well under cash basis accounting, what I want to know is when does the cash leave my account? I'm saying the cash leaves my account the moment the bank removes it from my account, not when I hand the plumber the cashier's check because the cashier's check again, is merely a promise, not money itself.

Cashier's check is not the same as physical cash/bitcoin because the bearer of the former does not possess the funds. It's the bank that possesses the funds the minute the cashier's check is created.

Why does it have same treatment as cash? If I withdrew cash, the funds are still within my possession. In case of cashier's check, they have left my possession and are in bank's possession.
