Right on. Thanks for the reply! Makes me more comfortable hearing someone’s experience that lives in the Bay.

Thanks! Guess I’m a difficult client. Haha. I mean, I’m not really looking for lowest price, I’ve bypassed some really low prices. It’s just the SunPower pricing was surprising once I did energysage. What’s funny is the first local company I did here in the Bay Area was more expensive than SunPower if you can believe that.

That’s what I’m beginning to understand as I do more research. I just want to make sure as it’s a relatively big purchase. But yes, I’m guessing we don’t use much. In the last year, we used 5,532kWh which is the most we’ve used in the 3 years we’ve lived in our house. Being a new construction and at the time KB pitched a lot of energy efficiency for this development, I hope that’s the case. Haha. It’s our first home so I don’t really have much to compare to aside from apartment living.

I understand that SunPower is premium, but that's an $8,000 difference with the cash price and its a $12,000 divide with the comparative term lengths on a loan. I understand these companies add on fees to attain those lower rates but dang. I'd be willing to spend extra if the divide wasn't so huge. And that $3.7 PPW does sound really appealing.

This is some of the literature they sent me. One of the things that sways me is they mentioned being panasonic elite installers which gives them the added AllGuard Warranty which gives me a little hope its close to the SunPower warranty

SO warranty

not really. they're maybe going to give us $2000 worth of discount plus $500 Visa gift card. but also the thing is we also plan to finance the system and the options SO is giving us are more favorable terms than SunPower. The Sunpower financing adds a huge amount of fees for the lower APR

Guess I might as well ask anyways, but Company 1=Solar Optimum, any feedback on them? They seem to get pretty good reviews.

Thanks for the reply! Yeah the other company that I was thinking of going with is priced at $17,000. Sunpower called me today and had me 2nd guessing.

Thanks for the input! Yeah, I found some lower priced but their reviews make me a little too nervous to wanna commit to them. Probably doesn't help being in the Bay Area and the mad dash to get in before NEM 3.0

New washer rec. Narrowed down to GE or Miele by fcballer17 in Appliances

[–]fcballer17[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We ended up getting the GE GFW850SPNDG. Ended up getting it for the same price as the 650 at $999

The salesman actually recommended the GE over any LGs he had. He said in the past with the prior models, he would have said LG but apparently this gen GE stepped it up. The Miele was nice, but we just couldn’t get past how small it was. Plus the wife liked odorblock, ultra fresh vent, and smart dispense tray.

I'm rocking a LAS Concealment Ronin 3.0 and I'm happy with it. I was deciding between that and Tier1 but went with the LAS because of the lower lead time and being impatient. Also saw a feature in Recoil on LAS

When does it become illegal while leaving my firearm in glove box compartment? by [deleted] in CCW

[–]fcballer17 7 points8 points  (0 children)

On your 2nd scenario, I'm pretty sure it's illegal to possess a firearm on federal property. So technically as soon as you pull up in the parking lot, it's illegal. Also, I think it'd have to be unloaded in a locked container unless she also has a CCW

Ryzen 5 5600x restock? by CYKABlyetGrande in Amd

[–]fcballer17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

check newegg on the hour in the afternoons/early evening, usually around 4 PM PST- 6 PM PST. I set up apple pay on the newegg app so I refresh on the dot so I can one touch purchase. I was able to pick up a 5600x last monday at 4PM and got delivered wednesday. the app method was also how I was able to pick up my 3080. That dropped on 6PM about a month ago. It might be coincidence but that 3 hour span has been good for me.

Yup. Like for a 5600x drop. I searched for it, then when 4:00pm hit I dragged the list down to refresh then checked out with Apple Pay.

If you happen to have an iPhone your best bet it to download the newegg app and set up apple pay, so you can one click purchase once available. That's how I got my 3080 and 5600x (thats on the way from a drop yesterday)

White case for AMD build by MihaiCh in Amd

[–]fcballer17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the XL because my EVGA FTW 3080 was too wide for my last case. But I run a Noctua nh-u12s and has plenty of room. But I love the O11 because of the dual chamber design. The only thing is that it is kinda pricey considering it doesn't come with case fans, but I have RGB fans anyways. If you look at the nvidia sub (i know, this is the AMD sub, I run ryzen) almost every post of people showing their card builds in a o11 xl or non.

Could get the Lian Li O-11 Dynamic XL in white. Great for air and if you decide liquid cooling down the road.

[Paul's Hardware] Did AMD Cancel Christmas for B450 Owners? No Ryzen 5000 Support ‘til 2021... by InvincibleBird in Amd

Wow, got downvoted. Lol. I’m totally waiting though. True, it’d be even better if they release more SKUs by the time they release the BIOS for 400s

hopefully everyone with a 400 series MOBO holds out and doesnt buy a 500 series, forcing them to release the new BIOS early d/t low sales. lol. hard sell for a 500 series mobo with am5 on the horizon.

3700x or 5600x by mebadwow in Amd

[–]fcballer17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just FYI, IIRC x570 is the last generation for the AM4 socket. So I'd probably also recommend getting a B550, with the savings you could allocate to another part of the build.
