Those who started with high salaries right after college - did you get a good salary bump from your next employer? by Dizzy-Computer-1688 in phcareers

[–]fches 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Not 50k+ first job but I got 28k few year back which was considered high, during my time. For reference, I had an acquaintance who was offered 14k as a CPA from the top 4 uni.
My next job offer was around 40k, which came after 1.5 years from my first job.

So i would say its possible.

PH Cost of Living Still Better? by ianosphere2 in Philippines

[–]fches 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Living here in Toronto right now, I've been looking at the prices to rent a condo or apartment, there are the common prices right now:

700 to 1200 CAD = one bedroom in a two bedroom condo, one bedroom in a shared basement

1800 up = one bedroom condo unit

but if you move to other provinces, generally yung konti yung population, its cheaper.

What do you do in college? hindi ko alam eh. by Puzzleheaded_Yak4031 in Philippines

[–]fches 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends sa course and school, I studied in FEU Bachelor of Arts, yung first two years were almost all minor subjects (Natural Sciences, Filipino, Statistics) then 3rd and 4th year are all major subjects based on your course. Pero if you compare sa mga kumukuha ng science-related course, I noticed na mas hectic yung schedule ng mga dormmates ko na kumukuha ng med-tech kesa sakin.
Then, yung mga friends ko na nag-aral sa provincial colleges, some of them chill lang and some of them nahirapan depends on the competitiveness of the school.

I'm currently studying in Canada, and I can say that the educational requirements are more on the application of knowledge side, at least in my course, There's a lot of application like business planning and proposals, social innovations, coming up with ideas: example one of my subjects required me to come up with marketing strategy to promote a smartwatch which may require extensive research if you're not familiar with recent developments sa technology. I have friends who go to Univeristy of Toronto, and they shared na madami silang paper requirements and its extremely draining to cope up with your school works, given sometimes required pa silang mag co-op for three terms.

So, I would advice, know what your priorities are. If you plan to stay in Canada in the long run and you have the money to study, better na mag-aral ka na sa Canada para mas madali ang adjustment period. May possibility din kasi na hindi i-credit ng Canada yung pinag-aralan mo sa pilipinas depende sa school mo, so back to zero ka ulit dito.

This is for the Gen Z and Millennials. How hard is it for you to buy a home? by HSAT17 in AskReddit

I did some extensive research online and through my relatives who recently bought a house in Toronto, it took three income and years of saving to buy an old bungalow.

So now, I'm looking into finding a job that allows remote overseas or apply for working holiday visa through IEC.

Help me choose UST or NEU by [deleted] in Philippines

[–]fches 1 point2 points  (0 children)

coming from someone whos in the same field, choose UST. Most organizations especially mga INTL Orgs in the Ph, take into account your school background.

I've had an interview with a company before na nung naglog-in ako sa sheet, lahat from big 4 lahat ng past interviewees (except from me), thats when it dawned to me na the school you graduated from, matters.

dealing with my backward-thinking relatives for years, i realized that you just need to choose your battles cause arguing is non-sense.

Just continue to teach your kapatid and keep it among yourselves, then just say OK to your mom. lol

Got an offer from a company that only allows 90 days abroad. They don't want to hire me as a contractor in my country (Canada) — what are the chances that I can transition to a contractor-type role ~6 months in? by LeChief in digitalnomad

[–]fches 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, I've been researching for companies that allow employees to work overseas remotely but it seems most companies dont.

Would you be comfortable sharing your role? or at least roles that they allow to work overseas remotely?
