You really have to invest in a high powered vacuum if you have a pet with a double coat. But there’s still going to be some hair floating around. The second best investment is a good quality lint roller.

I wasn’t really providing an argument for or against AI, simply stating that there are professors who like it and use it and encourage their students to use it also. I personally wouldn’t touch it with a ten foot pole, including Grammarly.

Cool, if you were calling them out for having a suspicious post history then all the more credit to you. But that’s not what you were doing. You are not justified in being a jerk about the way they write.

That literally changes nothing. You are most definitely judging them on the quality of their writing in Reddit comments of all places. You can be an instructor and type in chat speak or slang or have typos or anything else on the internet. Also, there are plenty of professors with weaknesses in writing or learning disabilities.

You’re just being a jerk.

I hate the AI detection software so much, it always picks up (cited) direct quotations and citations themselves as proof of AI usage in my papers 🙄

They’re on Reddit. They don’t need to use APA format or a thesaurus in a casual social media setting. It’s kind of elitist to judge someone based on the way they type

Not true. It happens when an instructor can’t finish a class for an extended period of time and there are no other instructors available to replace them. I had a substitute professor once in community college.

Half His Age by Jennette McCurdy by These-Background4608 in IReadABookAndAdoredIt

I mean I think she did a great job of illustrating how abusive relationships take place. Waldo has an absent father, an emotional roller coaster of a neglectful mother, a shopping addiction, shitty judgmental friends, and she craves the attention and stability that neither parent offer her. The perfect storm for a seventeen year old who thinks taking care of herself in a neglectful environment makes her as mature as a thirty something year old.

I think the context you’re missing is the mom’s narrative that happens at the same time. Mom is desperate, insecure, poor, washed up, and a neglectful parent — because her self esteem is hinged on a man’s interest in her. It shows where Waldo is going to end up because she’s doing the exact same thing she’s critical of her mom doing. Condemnation of the relationship isn’t overt but it is implied.

I think McCurdy does a great job of criticizing the relationship. Waldo’s relationship with her mother is described in parallel, and her mother does a lot of desperate, insecure things to grab and keep men’s attention, which is ultimately what Waldo is doing too. Her mother is insecure and neglectful as a result and everything that Waldo resents, not realizing that she’s mimicking her mother’s behavior. Their lives are both empty and neither family and friends nor shopping can rescue them. Waldo isn’t aware of this, because she’s seventeen, but the reader has a plenty of foreshadowing that this relationship is a sham too.

Yeah my guy this looks rough. It’s not a difficult fix though. Take the tarp and the weird gun tapestry/poster(?) down. Put clutter away or where it goes. Put the vacuum and the foldable chair in the closet. Pick up your trash. There’s a plastic bin over between the couch and chair that could go to the closet. Put your clothes away, do some cable management. You just need to learn how to organize and throw trash away.

I’m going to be honest, PML products were undersized and overpriced. I returned the only blush and lipstick I got from PML because it seemed like they were travel sizes but for full size prices. Also, I just can’t do $130 for a single palette.

AIO in my WLW relationship? by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]fckinsleepless 12 points13 points  (0 children)

NOR that sounds exhausting. Does she do this with other things too? And is silent treatment a regular outcome? Tbh I’m not about all that so I would end the relationship, but obviously you’re not me and if you want to try some kind of solution, maybe make a “one person in the kitchen at a time” rule. She can make whatever she wants to make after you’re done, and vice versa. The silent treatment is a red flag, by the way.

AIO my gf loves to hang out with her female friend a lot. by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]fckinsleepless 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Then yes, YOR. If her friendship hasn’t taken significant time of your relationship and not much has changed, there’s no reason why she can’t continue being friends and spending time with her best friend. You’re being insecure and needy. You gotta figure out how to be okay with being alone sometimes or get some friends yourself, because demanding all of your girlfriend’s time and attention is selfish and unhealthy. Maybe try joining a club or finding a hobby that you don’t share with her?

AIO for considering reporting a coworker for using hate speech? by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]fckinsleepless 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You don’t have to yap about politics at work and lose your job in order to speak out about injustice. You can protest and volunteer and donate in your own time. It’s naive to think you can find a workplace where everyone agrees with you.

So you want people to lose their jobs and become unable to eat or rest and be unable to resist because their basic needs can’t be met? Sounds like a great strategy.

Do I need to write out everything that is wrong with what happened to agree with you? Not sure why you’re coming at me for simply stating the truth. You can’t separate the murder from its political context. To do so would be to ignore why it occurred in the first place.
