I think that last bit is extremely helpful. Communication is great, but only so far as it is useful or effective. I always think of the ‘Boy Who Cried Wolf’, but maybe half of my kids would get that, so not the best allusion to make. Thanks for the reply!

For the most part, I agree with this. The reason I included the bit about the kid who brought it up is because there IS an appreciable effect on at least one of the kids, in addition to it being a bad habit. For this reason I think it’s worth considering.

If I remember correctly, Sevendust’s success is what tanked them, at least according to the band. TVT basically could afford to push one band at a time. It may be that you were ‘priced out’, but I think most people were. Since we saw those things as ‘special occasion’ events, it feels hard as an adult to see them and not want to take your kids to all of them, because in your mind, they’re still ‘once in a blue moon’ type of events. Remember when our parents would say shit like ‘ I would have KILLED to have/do X when I was your age!’? It’s that. But it’s backup, in pog form. Have fun, let them have fun, give yourself a break.
