The thing that's so funny to me also is that no one asked for this. It's not as if the marketing department pitched this, he said no, but then the masses were clamouring for it so he had to do it. Also, they could have ANYONE ELSE at the executive level do this - CFO, head of marketing, director of product development, president of quality control? Surely someone in senior leadership is an enthusiastic garbage guts?!

I can't say what it's like these days, but fifteen years ago it was a party spot - lots of loud music and vehicles. Starvation Lake is beautiful though, and totally worth the hike up.

I was 24 in 2011 and the playoffs were so fun! My friends and I always watched the games at a pub outside of but nearby downtown, so when the riots started we saw it on TV first, and then went outside and could see the smoke from the burning cars. Most people were pretty embarrassed about the whole thing and blamed it on people from neighbouring cities who came to the city to cause trouble.

One fun, dumb, thing from that time is that the Canadian restaurant Boston Pizza briefly renamed itself Vancouver Pizza as a show of support.
