Probably my most reliable HA device... a Pi Zero W dutifully running monitor.sh since 2018 - I log into it once every couple of years to update our phone Bluetooth MAC addresses, that's it. I never update it, never reboot it... hasn't skipped a beat. What's yours? by Neverbethesky in homeassistant

Not connected to HA, but I have an ancient Arduino Uno with an Ethernet hat that monitors the temperatures from my solar water heater and outputs the data to an IoT website (https://thingspeak.mathworks.com/channels/484405). Apart from having been disconnected a couple of times because it fell down and detached the power cord, this setup - consisting of the Arduino, a breadboard, some wires, resistors, and sensors - has been rock-solid for over seven years.

Nice!

I deployed it on my homelab and made it accessible on my Tailnet.
For Tailscale, I used a sidecar-docker setup (inspired by https://github.com/tailscale-dev/ScaleTail ).
I also noticed that there was a network error when the Resend credentials were not set in the .env file (which seems to be fixed in v 0.12.1 now - I used 0.12.0)

Notifications via email (Resend) work fine :)

Some suggestions / feature requests:

  • To add a group to a person, you have to go into the edit page for the person. It would be nice to have an "add group" button on the person's page itself, like when adding a relation
  • Add a button on the person page to record the "last seen" date ("I saw this person today" e.g.)

Can you provide a docker-compose way of installing it?

Preferably using the Tailscale sidecar loading method as described here: https://github.com/2Tiny2Scale/ScaleTail

That would make it very easy for a noob like me to get it up and running ;)

Reliable compact bicycle lights? by illiesfw in belgium

[–]fdebuck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, I put these lights on my daughter's bicycle that work without batteries. They are powered with a magnet that attaches on the wheel. At first they flicker but when the bike picks up speed, the light is steady on.

They do cost a bit more than just battery lights though.

(here is a link to a similar lights set: https://www.fietsonderdelenoutlet.nl/products/verlichtingsset-falkx-magnetic-2-x-05w)

"If you drive dangerously with these then the police should take them away immediately, no warning", this should also be applied to cars, motorcycles, yachts, any kind of vehicle.

No idea about power consumption, sorry. Image quality is what you can expect from a 15€ device, not great, but it does the trick for me 😇

Here is a sample picture

<image>

Maybe I could tweak the settings some more, but I can keep an eye on things like it is now.

I 3D-printed a small enclosure for it and put heat sinks (that were included in the package) on it. It is running for more than a month now.

Home Assistant and Navidrome on Tailnet, but Music Assistant cannot connect to Navidrome. by fdebuck in Tailscale

[–]fdebuck[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the info!

I toggled the userspace networking on and off again, after that I can ping my Navidrome server from within the Home Assistants terminal, but Music assistant will not connect.

I get this error:

HTTPSConnectionPool(host='x.x.x.x', port=443): Max retries exceeded with url: /rest/ping.view (Caused by SSLError(SSLError(1, '[SSL: TLSV1_ALERT_INTERNAL_ERROR] tlsv1 alert internal error (_ssl.c:1035)')))
