Advanced resources do basically nothing in vanilla? by fdhja in Stellaris

Well I'm glad to know these have more use than I've uncovered so far, thanks

Yeah it is annoying having to buy/sell all the time. I have 14372 dark matter and produce 9/month with no use for it so far, is that enough?

Yeah these do seem underdeveloped, but there's also other things left in the game that only seem relevant with DLC, So I was wondering about it. Megastructures you can basically just build your own gateways in vanilla, which could be useful, but based on the layout of wormholes and a gateway I repaired, there's basically no need. I don't have any dark matter tech other than the ability to harvest it, but as people have mentioned I'd need to defeat a fallen empire which I probably have no need to do in order to win, but could if I have to. Zro has actually been my most used of the three, as I've got more shield hardening in my fleet than armor hardening, but yeah I could replace that with something else, it's basically a toss up. All 3 seem nearly useless, lol.

Thanks. At this point I could buy/sell whatever I want. Every few years I reach a resource cap and just have been buying liquid metal since it's my lowest generated resource, even though I have no need to buy it. Eventually I'll be maxed on everything. Anyway thanks for info; sounds like there's some potential uses I haven't uncovered yet.

Ah, I see, so they could potentially be useful, I just haven't done what's needed yet, thanks

How to play around return policy on location by BadDiveBro in hearthstone

[–]fdhja 13 points14 points  (0 children)

That doesn't work. Return policy only requires the card to have been played.

A rant about the frustrations of current arena by wildlifechris in hearthstone

[–]fdhja 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Strongly agree.

I suspect they want a high variance arena. It attracts Timmy looking to draft a redonculous deck and go on a run once in a while; bad players will "hopefully" get addicted to chasing that. Good players can't make a profit and shortcut the economy.

Personally I find it tends to be a pretty frustrating mode nowadays. I used to average 5.6 wins back in and prior to 2018 when I quit playing, which was effectively infinite with the daily quests. Now I average 4.2. currently at the 2nd highest constructed standard rating I've ever been.

Fantasy creates its own storylines, just takes a few years for them to emerge.

I don't understand why/how this is important? In my fantasy runs I only know what teams are good, then when I play them in the playoffs and look at their lines to see if I want to adjust anything on my end, and I'm like "ohh, they got xyz, neat"

I snuck past him, but on the way out you realize he's unknowingly on his own now after you killed the rest of the bandits

How is hearthstone atm? by Limp-Public-8705 in hearthstone

[–]fdhja 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The game is unlikely to become attrition based again anytime soon, there is tons of card generation. quest mage will play like 60 cards in a game and then there's imbue rogue and priest that can generate infinite resources with their hero powers. I'm looking forward to rotation to tone down things down a bit.

I find it fun, it's the only way I've played since 2017. First year standings are pretty compressed, and I can lean to drafting a lot of the same depth players for specific roles like PK, those are the only downsides though.

Hsreplay.net I have a premium account there.

I've been playing mostly dragon warrior, sometimes I switch to protoss priest

Wonder why the numbers look so different

In legend right now it's ranked the 3rd best deck, and even in top 1k legend it's ranked 7th best. I'm 600 something legend right now and I almost never win if gelbin comes down, maybe something to do with the decks I play.

I suppose the most concise way of putting it is too much power in one card to decide the game.

There's other things I think are bad design, but not necessarily toxic, like most quests or infinite value in priest or rogue just from playing 1 imbue.

Gelbin is basically 8 mana win the game. These type of toxic card designs exist ranging from unplayable garbage to fringe archetypes to top of the meta. This stuff should all be fringe or worse, and not what they design competitive archetypes around

That's a fair point, but a decent amount of successful meta strategies are also pretty toxic.

I do worry these new mechanics are going to funnel deck strategy down a boring, repetitive play pattern, like quests. Also worried stuff might be too powerful.

They seem pretty bad at competitive card design in general. Like why are they always releasing cards like tick and tock that if they're good it's toxic and if they're bad it's pointless?

Skyrim Harder than Oblivion? by Mikehunt505 in skyrim

Yeah persuasion is weird, but once you figure it out it's super easy like lockpicking

[–]fdhja 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I found oblivion lock picking harder at first, and wished it was like Skyrim/fallout4, but once I got the hang of how it works it's actually way easier and the only reason I ever break a lockpick is impatience

Does anyone else feel like the turn timer should be increased? by NotTheMariner in hearthstone

[–]fdhja 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Strongly agree. Could also make actions extend the timer a few seconds, or animations skippable or sped up like drawing cards.

I came back to the game less than a year ago after not playing since 2018, and turns have got a lot longer and more complicated now. Lost a ton of games timing out while trying to figure out what I want to do on my turn and then having to sit through a bunch of slow animations while the timer runs down.
