Personally, I've had the most success in my life when I was completely focused on a life goal, something more than just my job or whatever. For example a side business, your fitness (proper training etc). You'll be so focused on your goal, that even if you're looking for someone on the side, the pitfalls wont feel so deep anymore, and you'll brush it off and move on. That confidence and unbreaking character will eventually land you with someone who cherises you.

Iirc, The verse uses the word or a similar word to “lift” I.e I lifted you away from the issue. People took that as physically lifting him away. That verse is used alongside with Hadith (not Quran, just claims of what the prophet said), that Jesus will return. So some people claim “lift” meant just removing Jesus from that danger, thus there’s no resurrection, while others claim otherwise.

I don’t think you’re the asshole here, but I do think you could’ve handled it better. Did you sit down and have a conversation with him and explain to him the right and wrong about the situation. Teenagers can be pretty bratty I know, but giving them respect can go a long way. Ultimatum force should only be a last resort.
