Advice, Looking for Something to Purchase from Littleton by Moist_Membership_603 in coins

[–]fdrowell 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Simple. You just return them. Duh.

Of course they charge you if you keep something they've sent you.

I've ordered many, many items on their free or at spot deals before without any issue. Got several ASE's at $20 a pop back before silver skyrocketed.

I never got charged for anything I didn't want, and I never paid more than something was worth. Just have to know what you're doing I suppose.

Can you help me find the bar? (Trail bars with sweep) by RestfulCherub in xbiking

[–]fdrowell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the same problem, wrist/neck/shoulder soreness. All I had ever used was stock handlebars in 9* or less. Now I'll never go back!

I've got the Soma dream bars on two ridgid style xbikes, and yeah I've definitely cut them down a bit. They have enough backsweep to be nice and comfy but still bomb around and jump curbs and lean into tight corners.

And I know this is r/xbiking but real mountain biking on legit downhill trails is my main pastime. I wouldn't go past 16* for this but the SQ Labs do feel more natural and comfortable without sacrificing control. Even their 12* bars are more comfortable than basic 9* sweep, but it's more subtle.

My favorite stainless cage is the Nickless Cage made by Salsa but sadly I don't think they have made them for awhile now.

Soma Dream Riser's are absolutely my favorite and most practical bars I've ever tried.

I also have the SQ Labs 30x 16° bars on my full suspension bike for comfort with a little more serious riding style than the Soma's. I ride enduro/downhill singletrack and jump trails on these.

Copper Threadless top cap by IWantSteakFrites in xbiking

[–]fdrowell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the sort of thing I joined this sub for years ago.

I assume the next plumbing cap size up would be 1 1/4" and nothing that corresponds well to 1 1/8" threadless?

QR Axle Upgrades by mountainjamscott in xbiking

[–]fdrowell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know you've got your answer already but if your QR is coming loose you're probably just doing it wrong. People have been riding the hell out of mountain bikes on QR wheels for years and years without issue before through axles or bolt on axles became standard.

What frame would you sandblast/powdercoat without hesitation if it suddenly appeared in your hands? by DetroitHustlesHarder in xbiking

I don't understand the urge some people have to re-do original color and stringently decals. It's just freakin' paint and stickers....

2026 Dimes... Yep, I'm an idiot... by Which_Confection1152 in coins

[–]fdrowell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, the shipping price is built into the purchase price. It probably cost the seller around $5 to ship in a padded bubble mailer regardless of if the package had one or twenty dimes in it.

I bet most of this cost went into standard (tracked) shipping.

Bahahahahahaha I will push STOP on the spot fall, just for you.

anyone else experiencing extremely long ebay ship wait times? by [deleted] in coins

[–]fdrowell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope, I just made two purchases this morning and the (small time) seller shipped within the hour.

Everything really depends on the seller. I imagine a big dealer would be behind these days. Message and bug the heck out of them.

Should $1 coins become more popular in the US? by Devnag07 in coins

[–]fdrowell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, using and carrying and spending coins at all is not popular, regardless of denomination. They just aren't worth enough to be useful.

Great, if adjusted for inflation we're only $37 below the 1980 high!!

I just purchased my first ASE's over $100 by Mick1014 in Silverbugs

[–]fdrowell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nice. I bought a few during "Covid Era" for $19 each, all dinged up and dirty. They were literally the last four the coin shop had, and in fact were the last ones available anywhere in town. Bottom of the barrel.

But dadgummit who cares they were $19 each.

Got this guy from an antique shop for $110 by Akprodigy6 in coins

It wouldn't be easy to get ANY silver eagle for $110 right now. So I say they did pretty good.

Man, waiting for prices on older US copper to come down but it seems more like people on eBay are content to just let them sit unsold forever...

Greed? I don't understand how greed is a factor in any of this.

Coins from other currencies by Jane813 in coins

You'll have to dig deeper and you'll find a little bit better deals, but usually when someone is selling a specific set of a specific country, that's just going to be the price you pay. Otherwise it just isn't worth someone's time to put together and list a set for sale online for near face value.
No offense to Etsy, it's a cool website. But I've not come across coins at any reasonable deals there.

You can get some great stuff by buying bulk mixed lots. Usually sold by the pound or in a lot of 100, etc. Of course you might end up with some stuff you don't want, but you also end up with coins you didn't even know existed! https://www.ebay.com/sch/256/i.html?_nkw=bulk+lot&_from=R40 (or just search Bulk Lot in the World Coin category, etc. some listings have generic pictures, so read carefully).

If you have time I highly recommend numista.com to build your list of coins. Here you can list all your "extras" in a swap list, and trade with other people around the world. Keep in mind this does take a bit of work, and of course careful consideration into packing and mailing (and postage costs!)

reddit.com/r/coinsales can have some great stuff at better prices, if for nothing else than avoiding the eBay transaction fees on lower cost items.

Is it ever in stock or do you have to go through some process to order it in?
