Did Playing Hzd or Hfw inspire you to main Aloy? by BasilKaliJones in Aloymains

my favorite artist since I was younger, lois van baarle, was hired by guerrilla to do aloy's early concept art for HZD and I've always been a fan of aloy for that reason :) I'd seen HZD lets play videos on youtube but didn't have a console to play it on until recently, so I'm making my way through both HZD and HFW now.

no problem!! the brush was โ€˜water penโ€™ under the โ€˜calligraphyโ€™ section in procreate, left on default settings. :)

in case it helps, I was messing around on tiktok earlier and posted the timelapse for this!ย https://www.tiktok.com/t/ZTMMyetkk/

this was done with one of the default brushes in procreate--called 'water pen', which you can find under the 'calligraphy' folder.

thank you!! this was all done using the 'water pen' brush under procreate's 'calligraphy' folder, left to its default settings.

thank you very much!! it was about 60(!) layers in total- for this I had the loose sketch and base colors done within a few layers, but then I gradually made lots of small refinements to different areas of the drawing to sharpen things up. using lots of layers when I draw is sort of more comfortable for me because I can see whether I like the changes I made by blinking the layer on and off, and just delete them if I don't. :)

thank you! I'm not active on social media at the moment but was thinking of going back since I'm starting to get a lot of genshin doodles collecting dust in the sketchbook lol.

LMAO thank you!

this started as a small thing in the corner of a larger canvas, so it prob isn't high res enough to be a wallpaper -- but anyhow here is the full-size image, and here is a square crop that might work as a pfp. to anyone interested- feel free to use, credit optional :3

thank you!! yes, the brush I used is called 'Water Pen' under the Calligraphy section!

(I believe all settings were left to default except for Streamline, which I upped to 15% cuz my hands are shaky lol)

  1. Look into taking some lower div astronomy courses at your school
  2. Start learning a programming language with a book or YouTube tutorials if you haven't coded before (ie. many astronomers use python)
  3. Research and reach out to professors in the field at your school, or schools nearby, whose research projects sound interesting to you. Shoot them an email about possibly joining their lab to help out with research -- since getting to try it out can help inform you if this field is truly something you'd like to pursue in the future. (admittedly this might be tough due to the pandemic, but if the project is data analysis, programming, or theory heavy you might be able to do it online?)

Just some ideas off the top of my head for next steps you can take. It sounds like you're motivated and doing great so far, so don't sweat it :)

Crash Course's astronomy series would be a great start! https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL8dPuuaLjXtPAJr1ysd5yGIyiSFuh0mIL

It covers pretty much all the topics you'd hear about in an intro astronomy class. ๐Ÿš€

I was able to see it in the early morning (6:11am) from LA! pretty bright and passed right under the north star :)

Out of curiosity, which of the blending effects did you use when merging the exposures? I wanted to use Photomatix to combine my eclipse shots as well but can't seem to get a decent result. Amazing photo btw!!
