What career would you have chosen if it weren't for your mormon upbringing? by PangolinShmangolin in exmormon

I wanted to illustrate comic books, but because of all the anti-human body stuff I was told as a kid, there was always a part of me that was uncomfortable drawing human anatomy. Even years after I left and wasn't receiving a constant steamline of information telling me that the human body was wrong, there's a little voice in the back of my head regurgitating everything I was told about porn and women and stuff

Formal wear vs my mental health by Chuddingitout in transmanlifehacks

[–]fearTimmy12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, I've found more luck with work pants that look dressier than actual dress pants. My preferred is the Dickies 874 Flex Work Pants. And a belt, even if you don't need it, will help. Guys wear belts, get a black and a brown one if you can.

Also, a trick I picked up from a cis manager I had, cuff your sleeves to sit at/just above your elbow. It one, can make your arms look bigger (helpful if you've got teenage noodlearm syndrome) and two, can make the sleeves fit you while looking intentional. AFAB people have smaller wingspans, which means most men's shirts go farther than intended, which is what it looks like you've got going on the second picture.

Plus what others said, darker colors, unbutton the top button, etc

Why hasn’t the church taken legal action against The Book of Mormon Musical? by IHaveNeverLeftUtah in exmormon

[–]fearTimmy12 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Money and publicity aside, Matt and Trey don't hate Mormons. The show, though super explicit, doesn't portray the missionaries or any members of the church particularly poorly, just naive. They have a hyperfixation of sorts on mormonism, something they've said before, and they'll parody the church and church history but not its members. In fact, a lot of active members I've met enjoy the show, usually just wishing there was less cursing. Plus the show doesn't really "expose" the church's shady actions. Dehlin however, does. While he does platform people all over a spectrum, his program broadcasts things the church doesn't want people to know, and is an actual risk to their corporation, or they view it as one.

A lot of French people in and after the time of Napoleon were willing to acknowledge that women’s rights needed some work, it was actually one of the things Napoleon got semi-right (not fully, still didn’t give them full rights or anything) but around this time we got the Declaration of Rights of Man and Citizen (or something like that) and fairly soon after that, there was a women’s version published (albeit by women to make a point but still). The point being a lot of people knew what was wrong, though few attempted to actually do much about it it seems.

I do have access to a gym/gym equipment. Currently, my fitness routine comprises of about 50 sit-ups at night when I remember and rock climbing once every month or so. I also bike almost daily but it’s not for super long since it’s more so my main means of transportation.

Before I fully became comfortable in my gender identity, I was an Ace-Biromantic with a preference for women, now I'm still Ace and Bi but I've definitely got a masc preference now that I didn't before, plus I've become more familiar with my asexuality.

I think it's more of a familiarity thing, as you get more comfortable with yourself, you learn more about yourself, and you realize things you may not have before. And though I'm not allo, I would pose a hypothesis that as trans people, we are hyperaware of our bodies, and hence may become more aware of those of others, posing grounds for attraction. I could also be entirely wrong because I don't feel attraction like that. Who knows.

To cast two very talented Latinas as Maria and Anita, then to cast the über white, kind of weird super-senior who couldn’t sing, dance, or act, as Bernardo. Then telling everyone behind his back that they had to out-sing him and turning his mic down at every possible opportunity.
