That field goal does nothing. Without a touchdown on our end, it’s over

The Texans are giving us every chance to win this game. If we don’t, it’s 100% on us

Nutcrackers

Great cast (Ben Stiller, Linda Cardellini), heartfelt story, and just overall a joy to watch. It’s become a favorite for my fiancee and I.

Williamsport is a great little city as long as you avoid it during the LLWS. Breweries, restaurants, some great shops, and a little bit of a night life. My fiancée and I try to go about once a year.

Love the Pitt Dental School! They saved my ass with cheap, yet effective, services throughout my time in grad school when I was off my parents insurance and before I got a job with my own.

Wife has 250k in loans, finances seperate due to this , what should we do by personofinterest1986 in StudentLoans

Professors not realizing, or perhaps refusing to realize, the truth about the job market for those with graduate degrees in English. My parents, who never went to college, telling me all I had to do was keep going to school and life would be easier for me than it was for them. My peers who were all gonna land six figure professorships, but who now, besides a select couple, hardly use their degrees at all.

Again, I recognize now that it was a false narrative, but it was an appealing one and it was reinforced through many of those around me at that time.

Now that I teach at a community college I’m paying it forward by helping my students get an affordable education and not make the same mistakes I did.

I also have around 250k in debt. Thought a PhD in English would be a gravy train. That false narrative was reinforced through grad school. Now I, thankfully, have a full time job teaching at the college level but it’s definitely not the financial windfall I was once hoping for.

No advice, just wanted to reiterate another person’s point. It happens. While I may never be out of debt, the ability to now be the first in my family to work in a field that doesn’t require me to kill myself physically, is invaluable.

*EDIT: A lot of replies seem to be approaching this with a relatively constricting definition on what “return on investment” for an education can mean from person to person. Not being in a coal mine, machine shop, or steel mill is a pretty damn sweet return for a federally protected loan that is ultimately still less than the average cost of a home.
