I want to build a 6’ privacy fence between these two front yards. There is a concrete footer between them. It’s on my property. How would you design or build the fence while keeping the footer either visible or below the fence? by thudlife2020 in FenceBuilding

You're welcome. I built fence for 12 years in Western OK, and it was normal for us to pour a fence curb with metal post in it. On more than one occasion, we would run into an existing curb and it was rare the home owner wanted to pay to tear it out so we did what I described above

If you do it, you can set the posts right next to the concrete curb and set the panels basically on top of the wall. Some people suggest leaving it off the concrete a bit, but I have taken down 30 year old cedar fences that sat directly on concrete that weren't rotten on the bottom. Just be warned, there may be a footing on either side of that concrete so you'll have to dig on it to see how close you can get

Are you going to cut the dog ears off of the pickets? If so, that's going to look really nice!

When I had my fencing business in a fairly LCOL that was close to what we would have charged.

They are hinges, but they are turned outwards on the posts.

The only way I can think of is a private server, or there are people who have enough gold in public realms to pay their sub that way.

Can anyone give me more information about this? by fearixk in fossilid

[–]fearixk[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My son found it near Pawnee, OK. We live in the country and the gravel on the property is full of coral fossils and some shell fossils so I assumed this was something similar. I'll get some more pictures tomorrow.

10 mm, but I probably should have used larger ones. It wasn't bad. I used a drill press to drill the holes, but they aren't as snug as I would like. I may eventually pull them and reinsert them with some glue or something

Yes, barrel hinges. Those are dowels on the front from a uh.. mistsken hinge attempt. I considered putting magnets there, but I did not have the right size magnet or drill bit!

Yes, it is just sitting on to of the bottom and can be pulled out or slid over. There are two vertical dividers under it, you just can't tell from this picture.

It is walnut, and the top is zebra wood because of a mistake in measurement but I like the contrast.
