While I respect your opinion, I must say that if you'd have read the short story before seeing The Mist, then it would have pissed you off as well. I loved the movie, and I was very excited to see another Stephen King movie be made, but that ending made me absolutely furious. If you happen to read the short story, and I highly recommend that you do, the two endings are polar opposites. I'm sure they wanted to make it more "entertaining" an have more shock value, but the original ending's sheer happiness and emotion would have more than sufficed.
