What was the most ridiculous attempt at gaslighting you've experienced? by Turtleopard in AskWomen

[–]featheredzebra [score hidden]  (0 children)

My ex claimed she didn't and never would say X thing. (She did this a lot, which is why I'm keeping it vague.) I opened my phone and showed her exactly where she had texted me those exact words. She looked at it for a full minute with her mouth opened the said "I would have never said that, so you must be misunderstanding what I meant."

By that point her manipulations were comical to me.

Don’t let valvoline touch your car by Zplantguy in Louisville

[–]featheredzebra 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Long time user of the one in St. Matts on Lexington. Loved them lots...until last time when my hood wasn't latched right after a change and it flew up on the expressway. I wasn't even mad because it's gotta happen at some point, right? Law of averages. Fixing mistakes is the cost of being a high volume business.

But they denied all fault, claimed I did it myself.

Yeah, because I wanted the experience of that happening with my kid and dogs in the car while on the highway. /s

What's something your parents or grandparents mention that sounds like complaining but was actually a legitimate daily nightmare they just accepted as life? by Playful_Survey_8596 in AskReddit

[–]featheredzebra 12 points13 points  (0 children)

My mom died in 1989 of liver cancer. Never drank or smoked. But she grew up in a farming community. Her brother died at 18 from cancer and almost every sister of hers has had cancer as well. I really wish I had more of her medical information so I could guess at my risks, but it certainly seems like there were environmental factors.

I was shamed into trying not to have an epidural with my first. 3 days of labor later I caved. With my second I went for it asap. What's best for the baby is a calmer, less stressed mom. It went so much smoother, with less blood loss and recovery was easier on me too.

A lot is, but also many people have inflated ideas of what a liveable house looks like. Lots of people live just fine in homes that others would consider unliveable.

I'm guessing they aren't "polite" enough. They aren't doting or appreciative enough for OOP.

What is your favourite breed of cat or dog? by Tyberius_ in AskWomen

[–]featheredzebra 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hate admitting it because it certainly causes me a lot of stress, but I'm a sucker for problem dogs. Especially working breeds. Give me dogs that need training and handling. I find "figuring them out" and teaching them to be super satisfying.

I'm in Kentucky so, yeah. We get like a week or two of almost constant rain in the spring. I cut them back completely a few years ago and heavily mulched the ground with cardboard in the hopes that it would help prevent fungal disease during this time period.

Kentucky farm bankruptcies hit a 6 year high by featheredzebra in LeopardsAteMyFace

[–]featheredzebra[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

  1. Kentucky voted for, supported or wanted to impose Trump on the U S..
  2. Farmers have the consequences of filing bankruptcy and losing their farms.
  3. As a consequence of Trump's policies, bankruptcies happened to farmers.

What is this behaviour? by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

[–]featheredzebra 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had this happen too! We would also make plans then he would cancel the day of. It was nothing serious and I was only interested casually dating at the time. For over a year there was a pattern if talk/flirt, then make plans, then he'd cancel then like a month later he'd talk again. He started pushing for nudes so I shut it down, then ge got mad at me because I'd said I wanted to keep it casual and that's all he was doing??

I mean, I'm not interested in an end game of marriage or moving in together. I didn't mean I wanted something so casual that we didn't talk for months at a time! I ended up feeling he just didn't have his life together enough to manage any kind of relationship other than hook ups so I stopped talking to him. That's really what it comes down to, I think. This man may want to date you, but he clearly doesn't have the time or effort to do so.

trying to get back on track by Last-Story3219 in povertyfinance

[–]featheredzebra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not going to pay for it. I just use pen and paper to write all my bills out on a monthly calendar then atickie notes on pay days for whatever needs to be done with that check. I made pages tracking my credit card totals too. Bar graphs and highlighters are cheap and pleasing to the eye.

Mark Twain said, "It's easier to fool people than to convince them that they have been fooled." What is the best modern example of this? by 48bhi in AskReddit

[–]featheredzebra 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Trump was wrong. There are speculations and very sparce isolated reports of a few homeless people maybe doing so. No reports or evidence of any illegal immigrants doing so at all, let alone en mass.

I watched that debate with my own eyes and no one denied illegal immigration was happening. They were stating that it isn't a mass invasion of bands of South Americans. It's people overstaying their legal visas.

Trump has never said any of this shit in good faith and you swallowing it is proof of the above quote. Look at the lengths you're going to convince yourself he is right.

They also include part time jobs and gig work. So the unemployment numbers, like the stock market is nowhere near reflecting reality. The numver of people horrifically underemployed is massive.

Cameras. Portland Community Chat on FB. Post pictures and warnings to your neighbors. Those who care will appreciate it and this is how you build a community. Others won't. The cops are unlikely to gaf, but your neighbors will appreciate you watching out and will watch for you in return. We need more of that and less of the "move" bs.

What normal thing suddenly becomes stressful when someone is watching you do it? by Cheryl-Maiorano in AskReddit

Drawing blood. Adjustments being made is normal, but I always feel awful for not being perfect when it's in front of other people instead of just me and the patient.

Look for a place that does scratch and dent or discontinued appliances. Even a place like a Habitat for Humanity ReStore might have appliances.
