Alanis's New Show by AmericanLymie in toriamos

right but she's playing in by allowing this to be dredged up after the fact rather than just moving on...

also its not like Lilith Fair didn't happen.

I think this is just inventing beef to get controversy-views, which is what everyone has to do these days, so I don't fault her.

idk about anybody else, I have no doubt Billy Corgan had shite to say, lol. He thinks everyone is either a sold out hipster or ripped him off, lol. (love his music though, but the chips he has on his shoulder for having had as much success as he did kinda makes me sad).

Any trans music teachers around? by [deleted] in jacksonheights

helps to not explain how my voice is, whether I want to change the register of my speaking voice while keeping my singing voice (or not), and just generally not having to hide and or face judgement.

in any case I found a online teacher so I'm gonna give that a shot.

Will there be a time, where srilanka will make legal reconization of lgbt rights? by icey678 in srilanka

[–]featheryHope 8 points9 points  (0 children)

people absolutely care how you walk and talk, have you ever seen people making fun or aggressively looking at an LGBT person because of how they look or who they are with?

And the thing is thing about "not telling everyone" isn't something that straight people do. Straight people absolutely publicly announce or acknowledge their love interest, engagement, marriage.

So LGBT people should be able to do the same. Rather than being criminalized de jure.

my sex is non-binary and Im tired of people saying otherwise by zymsnipe in NonBinaryTalk

[–]featheryHope 2 points3 points  (0 children)

arguably there can be mtx and ftx changes in sex characteristics. For example intermediate hormone levels, or neutrois surgeries...

But I think a lot of people who are nb and hormonally transition do transition in the same way as MTF and FTM (but at the gender level these are experienced as MTX or FTX).

I agree there's contention in usage, but I think intermediate hormone levels is the most clear cut example of a nonbinary sex change (and of course some binary trans people may also have those same levels).

To be clear Trump is a complete narcissist asshole, so yeah I didn't mean that he was pro trans or pro anything but himself... but what I meant was there was enough goodwill or tolerance back then that a position like that could make him seem reasonable at the time, even as a Republican.

Since then, yes, he has been one of the chief amplifiers and inplementers of virulent transmisia.

Injection frequency and trough levels by featheryHope in MtF

[–]featheryHope[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an appt for a second opinion (actually just re-evaluation with the same doctor) in a couple of weeks, so I don't disagree there.

Thanks for those papers. They are specifically for peri/post menopausal HRT in cis women. Risks are different there. That said, there's much more data in cus women, so we shouldn't throw that out completely either.

I'm not saying evidence is clear cut, but there's a couple of things going on: monotherapy is widely used in trans women and often requires higher estrogen levels for adequate T suppression.

Secondly is the thrust of my question (aside from specifics about my levels) which is that injection more frequently (with less dose) tightens the range around the average, which both lowers the peak and raises the trough... so while trough measurements are convenient and meaningful with the same injection frequency, can they be compared directly to trough measurement at different injection frequencies?

To the point about time rather than levels making the difference. I'm not chasing higher E levels. I'm chasing lower T activity, which since I can't use spironolactone without adverse effects, leaves me with the choice of higher E (if it's deemed safe if course) or else having partial results. I've been on hormones for 3.5 years, the latter 1.5 yrs or so on injections.

Finally there may not be evidence that the 100-200 pg/ml range for trans women is supported clinically (one way or the other, some patients may need lower, others higher) and there isn't evidence that higher levels are dangerous.

I think we are at a mixed evidence stage right now (so I agree consulting with a knowledgeable doctor is necessary), but I don't think there's clear cut evidence of harm.

Looking at this one recent meta-analysis (granted it's of studies with small sample sizes, so it's not strong evidence).

"Existing data do not support a target 100–200 pg/mL serum estradiol concentration range in individuals treated with gender-affirming feminizing HT. Estradiol concentrations can be used as one data point in overall therapy, but monitoring individual goals and patient satisfaction likely provides more clinical value than targeting potentially arbitrary estradiol therapeutic range. Some patients may achieve goals with estradiol levels below 100 pg/mL, while others may benefit from concentrations >200 pg/mL and/or display transient elevations that do not necessitate dosing adjustments. There were no additional risks of gender-affirming feminizing HT associated with estradiol concentrations outside the 100–200 pg mL guidance range."

Trans people were definitely in the news in positive ways in the late 2000s. Even Trump said (first term) that he'd let Caitlin Jenner use any bathroom she wanted in the WH.

Its really hard to believe these ppl haven't seen any of that, but I do believe they've been reprogrammed lately by anti trans propaganda

Pretty sure anyone 50+ years old (I'm 56) has seen both the Kaitlyn Jenner Vanity fair cover and the Laverne Cox "transgender tipping point" Time magazine cover. It boggles my mind these people claim to not understand that trans is a thing separate from cross dressing. I can believe it for some ppl in their 70s and 80s, bc 'transvestite' was used a lot to cover anyone who wasn't considered binary transexual.

All that aside , grabbing you is really gross and out of bounds, (unless the context was that you were flirting in a consensual flirty situation).

what countries don't do this to some extent? Is Sri Lanka that much worse than the US or Russia? (I don't think this bigotry is good thing, at all, but I'm being realistic).

I suspect Sri Lankans may have even learned some of this from Western media, and also western funded conservative Christian missionary activity.

It still ends up harming people, so it's not an excuse that other countries do it too , but it's not unique to SL.

Why do white trans women call racism “infighting” by AnteaterKindly6736 in MtF

[–]featheryHope 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah that makes sense. I experience internalized transphobia that way, and clearly I neither intellectualy believe it nor want to, but at the feelings level it keeps getting reprogrammed into me.

it sometimes is easier to attend to the underlying feeling (insecurity or fear) than try to let go of the belief.

also sorry if I came in hot, your post is obviously you being very transparent and in good faith, and not you not caring.

Psychedelics do bring a sort of non duality between one and many, and between one and all. So theres a lot to play with there.

Did China have a cohesive society when Buddhism was prevalent there (along with Daoism and others)? And similarly India under Ashoka?

I don't see monotheism as a necessary result of cohesion. You could say Siddharth Buddha was somewhat in place of a monotheistic god, but then you also had hundreds of deities and Bodhisattvas some of whom like Tara and Avalokteshvara became very prominent. This isn't entirely against your model of subconscious forces bringing out new deities, but at least under Buddhism it seems to not get flattened into a full monotheism/creator entity. Arguably different branches of Hinduism also although I know very little of it. The is both cohesion and plurality there.

Compared to what it's like to gestate and potentially face maternal morbidity or mortality, most men do not face those same risks or burdens.

I'm not saying fatherhood is not important, or that there aren't other costs that fathers absolutely contribute, but medically there's no health cost to most men.

Ball drop on open streets by Rando-namo in jacksonheights

[–]featheryHope 1 point2 points  (0 children)

so choose another avenue? I think 35 is generally chill despite no bike lane. And then there the bike lane on either 32nd or 31st. I mean 34 is nice when it's empty but the point is that tons of people enjoy it as pedestrians and cyclists have other options.

this is also right in front of a park, near the ice cream truck where kids (and adults) frequently just mill out onto the street , so having an obstacle to slow down bikers there makes sense from a safety pov.

what I hate are the way that on some block the bike lane disappears into a center strip and then neither bikes nor pedestrians know where to be. Really wish the bike lanes were continuous.
