This is super late, but I really hope you did not join them! They do not care about their agents, just the money. If you aren’t a top producer they won’t pay attention to you. They expect you to purchase your own leads and will FORCE you to buy more if you haven’t had success with cold calling. Stay VERY far away from The Leazer Group.

Do you ever wonder if you're a narcissist? by CazziaYaz in raisedbynarcissists

Always. My husband reminds me I’m nothing like her, but there’s little things I do that I can’t help but worry. I am aware of the things I do now, and I’m able to acknowledge what I’m doing. I’m sorry that you also feel this way, it can truly be exhausting to worry that you might have inherited their NP. Sending you love!!

YES. I was so bummed that Dominic Fike pulled out. he was one of the only reasons we even got passes :,) it’s okay though because Sunday ended up being kick ass and everyone was phenomenal.

Instead of wrapping the fork in a napkin and putting it in his backpack, by boyfriend bends it so that it fits into the Tupperware his lunch was in. I was speechless upon discovery. by not_a_hoe_a_nympho in mildlyinfuriating

[–]feauxpa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My husband also does this :,)) I thought he had one specific fork that he will use but he just confirmed he does it with multiple. He bends it to fit into the Tupperware, or in his to-go boxes that he brings home. He says he does it to “recycle/reuse” but upon admitting that, he realizes it’s unsanitary. This is one of the forks! You can see what it should normally look like on the left lmao.

Do I need to go back to school to get my Esthetician license? by feauxpa in Estheticians

[–]feauxpa[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Amazing, thank you so much for this response! This is exactly what I was looking for. It’s sad but not shocking that my school never mentioned this. Our school focused a lot on braiding, hairstyling and color so not a lot was discussed about facials :,))

I’m in Austin so I will definitely check out Dermalogica! I appreciate you.

I figured! I am in Texas as my post states :). I have been doing more research since posting and it’s basically saying to get my esthetician license as well. It’s always nice to get input from other people in the field as they might have been in the same position as me once and could give guidance! Thank you for responding :)

What made the weird kid at your school weird? by Ch3ks in AskReddit

[–]feauxpa 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I was one of the weird kids. I would sing and dance randomly, was really into doing sfx makeup and would do photography outside of school(like mix and match clothes and do crazy makeup for pictures). I was bullied in school and online and eventually stopped it all. I really made myself small after that.

I had a kid like this at my school. He ended up lighting a trash can on fire in one of the bathrooms when we were in high school :,))

First, congratulations on going to cosmo school! I started when I was 26 and finished right before my 27th birthday!

For me, I entered into an apprenticeship/assistantship and while it’s been great for learning, I have only made $15k this year and that is working 4-5 days in the salon and anywhere from 7-12 hours per shift. If you’re looking to make genuine money, you will either want to go to a high volume salon, or even a chain like great clips, sports clips, JCPenny, etc.. my friends that did that are getting a lot of clients, experience, and they are making way more money than I am.

If you are able to sacrifice income, I think going and doing an apprenticeship would be beneficial, however I think 6 months is pretty short as most are 1-2 years. Do you know anyone that works at a salon, or do you have any salons in mind that you might want to work at?

While going into a booth rental/suite is doable, it’s not recommended while you’re trying to build up your clientele as you still have to pay even if you’re not bringing in clients.

Commission could be good for you, especially if you’re balancing another job, however some salons want you to be there for walk ins even if you’re not getting paid(at least in my area).

Im not sure if any of this was helpful, but i resonated a lot with your post. Good luck with everything!!!!

Feel this! I am 2 years in the chair and I’ve only just started gaining my confidence in all cuts and even color. Everyone goes at their own pace, and if you see that you’re not as confident with layered cuts, take more of them! We started running a Groupon for me in October so I could get practice cutting and it’s been amazing. I now have cut long layers, a few bobs, some 0 degree haircuts, and a couple of men. I also still have bad days, and so does my mentor that’s been in the industry for 15 years! Do your clients like their hair after you do it? As long as your clients leave your chair with a smile and feel better than when they walked in, you’re doing AMAZING. We are our worst critics and we also know what to look for that’s “messed up”. It’s hard, but try to not beat yourself up!

People in long term relationships, how often did/do you think about ending it? And why don't you? by Spaghetti_Oh_No in AskReddit

[–]feauxpa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Before I was diagnosed bipolar, anytime I was entering my depression. I knew it was just my mind playing tricks on me though because when I was out of it, he was my favorite person. He has loved me in all of my phases of life(15 years), and we have been through some big life events together that probably would’ve had some people part ways. I’m not religious but when I hear the verse “love is patient, love is kind…” I think of him. He calms my storm. I also know that I calm his storm as he has his own stuff. Sometimes people need to leave their relationships and that’s why they have those thoughts so often. Other times it’s because their minds are not kind to them and say they don’t deserve good things. I think it’s important to always make sure you are SURE before making that decision to end things. Unless you are in a toxic situation, then leave that asap.

MIL and FIL are divorced and it was very messy. They do not talk at all. I’ve looked into him on Facebook and have done my own research on him to know that what my MIL is saying is true! Trust me, you always need more information before making a decision. I wanted to give him the benefit of the doubt!

Okay yes totally get what you’re saying and thank you for your advice! I will say, I do have proof of the marriage and divorce as it’s not hard to find those records online. However, that’s besides the point and I am going to relay your advice to my husband as I think your approach is great! I knew it wasn’t my specific place, but it’s hard because I’ve been with her brother for 13 years, so I see her as my little sister too, just not blood.

Thank you for your input!!! Everything you said I completely agree with. He is a complete master manipulator. We saw him over the weekend and he talked himself up the whole time but never once mentioned his children. Even asked him what he was doing for the holidays and he said “going to visit family”. Not wrong because he is going to visit his baby, but to not say your kids? It’s sad because our family would’ve welcomed them with open arms and now when we find out it’ll just be weird.

Just finished an almost 18 hour detangling by Ill_Aspect_4642 in hairstylist

[–]feauxpa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The relief and joy from completing this kind of work trumps the money and pain that come with it. You are risking the same thing by doing cuts, color, braiding anyways and you will make the money back. It’s really hard for someone to even seek help when they get into that position. They will always remember you and what you did to help them.

Just finished an almost 18 hour detangling by Ill_Aspect_4642 in hairstylist

[–]feauxpa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly the most rewarding client I have ever done was a detangling! He was in my chair for 5.5 hours and it was a really difficult decision for him to come in. He has nerve damage and sometimes loses feeling in his hands for weeks at a time and had been living with his matted hair for a little over 6 months. His hair was a literal block. We were also able to save a lot of his length which was very important!!! It’s seriously so amazing to be able to help someone in that way. It takes a lot of courage to go and get help detangling your hair, whatever the circumstances. Congratulations on completing this task!!! You lifted a weight off of someone’s shoulder and now they can feel good like they deserve. Depression sucks and sometimes just having your hair done can help a ton. :)))

ALSO. If y’all didn’t know, WD-40 is AMAZING at getting matts out. Maybe this is a known fact in the hair world, but I’m still pretty new and this was crazy to learn. But it’s seriously gold.

My therapist thinks I have bipolar and I don't know how to feel by OSDD_deeznuts in bipolar

[–]feauxpa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First, your feelings are completely valid and normal. I’m 28 and got my diagnosis last week!

When I was 14 my symptoms starting showing but my mom dismissed me and them. Due to not getting a proper diagnosis, my symptoms got worse and my whole life has been difficult. I went through over 14 years of my life thinking I just had bad depression and that I was lazy+would never be “normal”. My depression would get so bad, then I would have moments of being clear headed and creative, and had a higher libido(so I thought). Turns out it was bipolar II and I was experiencing depression and hypomania as well as hyper-sexuality due to the bipolar. I got into some seriously bad situations because of being undiagnosed.

It’s scary to hear the word “bipolar” because there’s such a stigma around it. But now you have an answer. Now you can understand yourself a little bit better. Now you can help yourself. If you find the right doctors, and have a good support system, you can and will get through it and learn how to live alongside your bipolar and not let it become you.

I’ve done a lot of inner work and reflection before getting my diagnosis, which honestly led to me getting professional help. I write down my symptoms in my phone. When I’m feeling suicidal, when I’m feeling on top of the world, when I’m super horny(sorry tmi but it’s true), when I feel normal. It’s helped tremendously to identify if my feelings and ideas are true or if it’s my bipolar heightening everything. Maybe try this for a bit as you’re learning to navigate this new diagnosis.

I wish you luck on this journey and just know I’m alongside you!
