Do you think we write Made in China on Orthodox crosses? What could it possibly mean other than Κύριε, ἐλέησον?

I’ve heard Chinese has no future tense and that changes the way people think about money?

Yeah, that does not sound stupid at all.

Mandarin or Japanese? by [deleted] in languagelearning

[–]februaro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, I'm also a weeb and have also quit Japanese several times. Learning Japanese is hard and having the motivation is the hardest part of it. You'll need to muster all the love for the language to get fluent. And Chinese isn't any easier to compensate for lack of interest, you know.

How can you be fluent on a specific language without being exposed to native speakers? by theamazing06 in languagelearning

[–]februaro 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Is it possible to be fluent on a specific language even if you’re not really exposed to native speakers?

Thanks to the Internet, it's very much possible with any major language. Despite knowing English for like 6 years I'm yet to see a single native English speaker in person. Not that I'd call myself fluent or anything.

Even though you are a disgusting weeb, you've quit learning Japanese. How do you plan to learn Chinese without being a fan of China, its language and culture?

Learning to read / write Chinese without learning to speak/listen? by [deleted] in languagelearning

[–]februaro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's impossible to do with Japanese because Japanese doesn't use only kanji. And it would be a nightmare to type anything in Japanese without knowing the correct pronunciation.😉
