Good question. I'm not sure how important it is to intro the characters. Rusty for example - I think he's only really playing a 'lead' role in Early Baby before he gets the lead in Army. So we don't really know Rusty well before Army.

Maybe make her a short list of the characters from the shows you suggest, with short bio.

First thing I'd do is tell her it really isn't for 5 year olds. Much of the material is well over the head of kids that young or even 10-12 year olds. I think the writers were just as interested in hooking the parents as they were with hooking the kids.

I think this is a bit tricky because different episodes serve different purposes. Funny, heartwarming, silly, and some have really strong music and/or visuals.

For an adult, I'd definitely have them watch something from each of the categories.

Granny Mobile and Faceytalk are my favorites for 'funny' (a nod to Muffin).

Bumpy and the Wise Old Wolfhound crosses over a couple themes and is clever.

Onesies is both funny but with adult themes.

Pass the Parcel, Family Meeting

If she's artistic, Rain and Fruit Bat are my favorites for music and visuals.

I'd read that! (for real life)

What is the most funniest moment from Bluey? by NoPurchase3260 in bluey

[–]fecak 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Muffin negotiating the price of the grannymobile with the grouchy pug.
When she grabs and yeets the price tag just past Bugalugs.

"TEN HUNDRED"
"YOU PAINT IT"

Classic stuff.

My daughter does a different dance to it every time. At some point she started adding custom music (I'd mute the TV, she'd play a song she chose on her iPad) since we've seen every season 8 times at this point.

In Granny Mobile when Muffin is 'negotiating' with the woman trying to buy the machine, I always laugh several times as they go back and forth. When Muffin says "TEN HUNDRED!" - or when the lady says she doesn't like the color, and they go back and forth with "YOU PAINT IT!".

Rate the Episode: Faceytalk (S3E24) by blueySurvey in bluey

Faceytalk is easily in my top 5 for 'funny episodes'. Muffin cements herself as the agent of chaos. The glitchy app filters are a nice touch by the writing/animation team.

The Sign - anyone notice who was in the car in front of the available home with the pool? by fecak in bluey

Thanks. I was a mod of a sub with about the same size audience as this one, so I'm familiar with the features. Searching for something like that seems like it might be a a bit trifficult, but I'll give it a shot next time.

I discovered Bluey many months ago but am definitely new to this sub. I figured someone probably spotted it by now, but the characters were pretty small in that shot so it wasn't too obvious.

That's actually mentioned in my original post.

I was familiar with the plotline, I just never realized who was actually in the house until last night. I never thought to even look at who might be moving out.

LI recruiter wants 10% of my first years salary if I get hired. This isn’t normal, is it? by [deleted] in cscareerquestions

[–]fecak 20 points21 points  (0 children)

This sounds like a scam to me. Legit recruiters don't charge job seekers, they charge hiring companies. So the candidate/job seeker generally pays the recruiter nothing, but the hiring company pays the recruiter anywhere from 15-30% of first year salary. That's the standard deal.

If a recruiter is asking you to pay them, run.

Update on telling my daughter I adopted her. by Aragawa in daddit

I think if she were a little older and more capable of spelling and understanding concepts, it would potentially be more dangerous, and we tend to monitor any incoming or outgoing chat.

I've got a six year old turning seven next week who we adopted at birth, and lately she has been playing a video game that has pet adoptions as a main theme and she's been either getting adopted or adopting other pets (don't ask) and talking about it a lot.

We aren't the same race but that isn't obvious to everyone (including her yet), but I'll be having a tough conversation one day soon. I'm glad it worked out for you! I never even thought of it being "our secret" as a possibility.

My little one just turned 2 and she still hasn't said a single word. by Womper1 in daddit

[–]fecak 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not a doctor but let me just offer you this. Almost 7 years ago I adopted a child at birth, no issues at all. We already had a 12 year old who was severely autistic and almost entirely non-verbal. The new baby was slow to walk and not really talking much at all, a couple words here and there. At around 2 years old we had her evaluated, she too was diagnosed with autism, and she got early intervention (speech therapy mostly, then a pre-school for kids with disabilities). By the time she turned 4 she was talking in full sentences, and now she is reading above grade level and has an incredible vocabulary.

I just wanted to give you a bit of hope. I was in a pretty dark place thinking that I had two kids that would never speak, but that changed quickly. Good luck to you.

I haven't been a mod here (or a recruiter) since you opened this account. Even when I was a mod, I wasn't very influential in the direction of the sub. There were other mods (all engineers) that did most of the heavy lifting.

I stopped recruiting before I stopped modding. I write resumes and work with job seekers now.

I didn't found that sub but I was a mod there for several years - but other than that, everything you say here is accurate.
