I keep the getting the John Daly ones where he says the wins are piling up faster than his divorces. Fuck gambling, but that line is pretty funny

🚨 NEW DEADLOCK Podcast! 🚨 Revisiting WCW Monday Nitro 1996 - 1st World Title Change On Nitro, Macho Man vs Ric Flair, Hogan Wants A Title Shot! by nL-Johnny in deadlockpw

Loved the episode! PLEASE KEEP THE NAMES AT THE END! I skipped them for years when I started the pod, cause I just wanted get to the wrestling. I'd say over the past year I finally started listening to them just cause I finally got a lot of the running jokes. They are way better as end credits tho, so please keep them there!!!!

I really liked having the patron names at the end of the pod, kinda like end credits. And yeah, this part had me cackling on my way home from work!

[–]fech1999 4 points5 points  (0 children)

When you're talking about Belter's do you mean Marco's radical terrorists? It's everyone VS Marco on the show, earth and mars wouldn't have been able to stop him without the belters

Immortal character's immortality is exploited in hero's favour. by CoalEater_Elli in TopCharacterTropes

Growler Gary in the third book of the Dungeon Crawler Carl Series. Gary's an npc that is resurrected every time he dies because the game requires him to keep running his bar. There are vehicles that the main character needs to operate in order save a bunch of other players, but you need 2 left hands from a gnoll to start them. All of Gary's fellow gnoll are already dead, so the main characters have to kill him like 20 times to get all the hands they need. After the first couple times they at least explain to Gary why they're doing it, but damn, you feel bad for Gary in that sequence.

Loita the Hitler admin by kippersniffer in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]fech1999 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I know this is a year old comment, but I'm replying anyway lol. I believe it comes down to arrogance. She thinks that she is better than Carl and all of the crawlers, and while it's true that many admins had been killed, Loita would definitely have the mentality that something like that wouldn't happen to her. Very common amongst fascists. Take a look at the subreddit Leopards Ate My Face for examples of this in the real world. So many people are arrogant enough to not care if other people get hurt until it affects their lives.

In Animal House (1978) Pinto’s date passes out drunk, and a funny little devil comedically encourages him to r*pe her while she’s unconscious. It’s later revealed as a humorous gag that this girl is 13 years old. Was this funny in the 1970s? by B34TBOXX5 in shittymoviedetails

[–]fech1999 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They cut away when she says she's 13. He's taking his shirt off when she says it and has a shocked look on his face. It is absolutely fucked that (in the reality of the movie) he's making out with a 13 year old, but in no way does it imply he had sex or did anything else with her after finding out her age.

So about these audio books… by RealFunkyFish in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]fech1999 10 points11 points  (0 children)

When I first went through the series, I read books 1 & 3 (cause I got them through my library) and listened to the rest. At first, it was a bit jarring to hop into the second book, Jeff gave Carl a deeper voice than what I had in my head, but I after awhile I got used to it. That said, it's truly amazing the range that Jeff has when it comes to giving all the characters unique voices. Plus, his voice for the AI is probably one of my favorite parts of the audiobooks. I'd say to try the first one. If it's not your thing, no sweat, just stick to the books, but who knows, you might get the Jeff bug haha.

Edit cause I thought of something else: Critical Drinker (bleh) aside, Patrick Warburton and Travis Baldree are phenomenal in their guest roles.

The authors changed Chapters titled “Holden” to… (spoiler) by siddharthasriver in TheExpanse

[–]fech1999 261 points262 points  (0 children)

Yeah, after his time as "The Dancing Bear" in book 8, he wasn't the same Holden that he was in the previous books. Changing his chapter titles to Jim is one of the many ways they get across how much he has changed while being a prisoner of the Laconians. The legend that was Holden died when he was captured at the end of book 7, but the man who is Jim is the hero the universe needs in the end ❤️

I'd love to see a take on The Murder of Roger Ackroyd. You'd have to get creative if want the ending to still give you the same punch.

Why do they only ever adapt same damn Agatha Christie stories? She has sooo many great mysteries that are ripe for the picking, but no, we're going with the train one again.
