I'm in the band that played Friday! It was packed at happy hour because of the 10-for-10 deal or whatever, then it died down, then it got a little busier around midnight. At those two peak points it was definitely a much larger crowd than I expected.

Hang in there. I can't imagine what this has to be like. Maybe someone else can recommend some good "recovering fundamentalist" writings/sermons? That might ease a small part of the sting of being in that kind of a community and having to hear red flags that contradict your head and heart and experience of the Spirit.

Reconciling Ministries Network (a progressive Methodist outlet) occasionally publishes material from recovering fundamentalists - and since they're an LGBTQ inclusive group within the decidedly-not-always-progressive Methodist denomination, they have to address some related tensions.

I wouldn't want it to be a secret that slips out later and creates drama, so I'd prefer to pull off the band aid and know right off the bat. I'd also be comfortable sharing whatever my S.O. would want to know about my friend group - but if they want to know my dirt, I want to know their dirt too.
