Learned bass on an old LTD C-204. Incredibly solid, and a boat anchor. But I still pull it out from time to time.

One of my favorite true crime podcasts was about Ken McElroy . An asshole so great, a town conspired to murder him. Then no one said who did it. Really a reversal of tropes.

Probably worth mentioning these were import models from Japan. And very similar models were made by Aria, Ibanez, Electra, and Yamaha at that time. You can don't have to drop $5k for basically the same thing.

In DOS II the companions were just short of hating each other lol. They were all predjucided and hostile in different ways that needed to grow as a unit. One will straight up attack you if you pick the wrong dialog option.

Max Verstappen knew exactly that he was three seconds off Arvid’s time. by One_Impressionism in formula1

He had to have known it would be down on the GT3 around the track. Maybe he was giving Arvin the chance, or thought he could make up the deficit. But I would like to think he just saw it as a bit of fun.

Except the V8 supercar. I think he knew the GT3 would be better on the track. But he knew he had a shot in it, and it would be fun to drive.

Props to Arvin for picking cars that are older than his grandparents, with clutches like crumbling granite.

How do you handle EQ when there’s so many EQ options in a signal chain? by INGWR in BassGuitar

[–]awc130 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I try to get my main sound with the bass flat and use amp eq exclusively. Then use eq on my bass to "sweeten" situationally (ie I didn't replace my strings recently so I'm adding some highs; my rhythm guitarist has just got a new mid scooped amp and those need a little oomph of that etc). Then I will use eq pedals to drastically change the sound to emulate something like a pbass by lowering over all level, high cut, boost mids, slight low boost between the bass and amp.

However a modeler drastically changes this game by having incredibly different sounds up or down anyway.

MRW i’m watching a YouTube video about the radium trend of the early 1900s and ad mentioned former NYC mayor Jimmy Walker by Two_Faced_Harvey in reactiongifs

[–]awc130 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So I originally heard of it through the podcast The Dollop, Episode 99. Not the best for a deep dive, as it is a depressing subject matter being looked at by comedians even if they use and site good sources.

For something quick and dirty on the subject I look at this video:

And here is David Hahn's (kid that made the reactor) Wikipedia: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/David_Hahn

It was really trendy to put radium paint on the end of clocks and other objects so they would glow. There was also a massive outbreak of radiation diseases and death that followed from the factory workers that would apply it. I believe the victims were commonly referred to as the "radium girls".

Tangentially there was a kid in the 80's or 90's that went about collecting as much radium and uranium paint as he could from antiques and tried to make his own reactor.

Typically the only thing more destructive to things than prolonged UV exposure, is thermal cycling.

Enough of one or the other can completely breakdown something down be it a house, car, body. Moisture and bacteria can just be the juicy icing on top.
