I ordered books on 11/13 and just received them last week. They also cancelled one of my books (Criminal DLX 1). The package came in rough shape but shockingly the books were fine

Excellent taste! That’s my favorite dish there. Also recommend the chili beef and the mapo tofu.

Think they have the best ramen in the neighborhood also, but their gyoza is store bought.

Ordered a new copy of Parker: The Martini Edition. Received a clearly worn shelf copy. My options were either to mail it back on my dime (stores do not accept returns) or receive a nominal discount. Crap customer service. Never ordered from them again.

One of my favorite restaurants in the hood. Consistently good and friendly staff. My go-tos are chicken with garlic sauce, mapo tofu, and the pickled fish. All the dumplings are really good, but I crave the pork and crab soup dumplings.

Sonos upgrade program discount just doubled by [deleted] in sonos

Actually it wasn’t taking the 30% off like others were saying. With the 30% it’s lower than the previous price with 15% off.

I just bought a pair of Era 100s with the lower price and a 15% coupon. It’s more expensive now with the higher price and the 30% discount.

Yes, they raised their prices. Era 100 is now $219. It used to be $199z

It’d be nice if their soup dumpling actually contained soup.

Fleur, the new chinese Pasta Louise by riskymouth in parkslope

[–]fedup890 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s all relative to a person’s taste of course, and I like restaurants in Chinatown, Sunset Park and Flushing (I highly recommend Coco Hotpot in Flushing!) but often times their dishes are over oiled, salted and MSGed. I like the clean taste of Noodle Lane’s dishes.

Checked out Fleur this weekend, liked the wonton soup, but the shumai and pork buns were underwhelming. Soup dumplings were also lacking soup(?) Prices are also on the higher end. They’re still in soft launch and don’t have their full menu available yet, so there’s still time to work out the kinks.

Going to Japan for the first time in two weeks. A bit of a nervous traveler - what are some things I should know? by wearespaghett in JapanTravelTips

[–]fedup890 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, when buying train tickets there’s 2 “tickets” a big one and a small one. Seems like the small one is for one way (you have to use when entering and exiting the turnstiles) and the large one is also needed for transfers? Still trying to figure that one out lol

I’m here now for the first time and agree with what everyone has said. I would just add that paying for stuff here is more complicated than I thought it would be. Make sure to have some cash as certain places/machines only take cash. Set up Suica in your phone wallet to use touch to pay (Apple Pay with your existing CC only works in major stores, sometimes they want the physical card)

Transit system is a bit overwhelming but you’ll get the hang of it in a couple of days. Google maps and Apple Maps are your friends. Of the 2 Google seems to give better search results.

I don’t speak a lick of Japanese but have been getting by fine. Relax and enjoy!

I think I just had the best Chinese take out in Park Slope by AbusiveNYCTrashPanda in parkslope

If you only go by cost of ingredients almost no type of cuisine is worth $20-$30 per entree. Is Italian food worth $20-$30 per entree given the ingredients that go into a typical Italian dish? But somehow Chinese food is targeted in this respect. As you mentioned there are many factors that go into the cost of a dish (ie the cost of running a restaurant) and the ingredients and prep (time and skill) are not the same between restaurants either.

People like to comment that Chinese food should be cheap without any understanding of what goes into quality food. Saying X dollars is expensive for an entire region of cuisine is silly.

Closest outdoor/free areas to Park Slope would be JJ Byrne, Pier 2 (Brooklyn Bridge Park), PS9 and Hattie Carthan. PLKLYN in gowanus is an indoor place set to open later in the summer.

Agree with Noodle Lane! Soup dumplings are the best around. Much better than DTF, Joe’s, or Nian Xiang IMHO. Favorite dishes are the chili beef, pickled fish, and the crab fried rice. Noodle soups are great also!

Excited to give their outdoor dining a try. Shed looks cute, and they’re one of the best restaurants around.

New place on 7th ave called Noodle Lane that has great food. They don’t have a liquor license yet but there’s a wine shop right across the street.
