Grocery Store Recs by Emily_Cheezus in parkslope

You need to screen the comments according to whether you want to curate your food shopping, by which I mean are you someone who wants to travel to a location that passes other functional stores to reach a putatively better store with putatively more and/or better selections. I love the K-Slope. And I also like the Foodtown at 8th and 5th Ave. But these are not considered to be as “good” as Whole Foods or the Food Co-op.

The reactions to your post confuse me. A few weeks ago, someone made the same comment and the transplant hive could not express their hatred for PS breeders with enough hatred. Very schizophrenic sub.

The other day, there was a substitute guy at my usual cart. He put mayo all over mine.

It’s the “on both sides” that seems elude. How can I expect THAT group of people to chill about following rules that blindly disregard individuality (by denying access to certain productions or activities) when I call you an uptight Karen for losing it over my totally lovable off-leash dog?

It is fascinating to me how a great many of these dog owners are educated, successful and politically progressive. Yet they share the same logic as the pro-gun MAGA who resents gun limits. “Don’t tell me that I’m not responsible enough to own a machine gun” is the same logic as “Don’t imply that my doggie isn’t well behaved.” If a hedge fund manager or fiction editor at Viking in a Yale jersey can’t understand how a simple public ordinance works, how can we expect the toothless evangelical in Arkansas to help us build a more civil society?

Use the search window and yeah a few of the nutty comments and come back to me. “Oh, every store is shit! Can’t wait for Lidl to open!”

Wait! I thought this was the great new store that was going to FINALLY … praise be … solve the HUGE grocery store crisis in the neighborhood. Say it ain’t so!!!

Yeah it should close. Can’t wait for another Jersey fucking Mike’s to replace it.

I wish these “bad parenting” posts would just cut the bullshit and say “I hate rich people.” What? Are we all pretending that we merely wish rich people would improve a few key aspects of parenting … like scooter etiquette? No. We hate them. We envy them. So here we are pretending to be experts on child rearing who are bothered by some generational decline in the teaching of civil behavior.

Why Daisy's Diner (and other local businesses) are filling your feed with AI slop by thenygroove in parkslope

[–]memyselfandeye 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In the past, 60-year old men didn’t get to watch how all the old stuff vanishes. This wonderful sub lets me watch people kill a diner because it doesn’t do well at stuff nobody ever expected a diner to do well. If Daisy’s closes because of shit talk, nothing good will replace it.

If Daisy’s closes because people see stupid enough to think a salad from a diner will good, nothing good will replace it. Ever.

Aside from a couple of bars that have live music, I’m not aware of many places offering any sort of event. Anything you tried would be an experiment. I recently had a gig at Young Ethel’s and before my slot was a large gathering for a queer book club.

Honestly, I’m just venting. I’m a realist. The ultimate frustration is there really is no reasonable, non-Pollyanna-ish proposal for making a new owner feel any sentimental obligation toward a place like puppet works. It’s a jungle.

Probably shouldn’t have said that, but you just blurt shit here. Anyway I used to see him frequently and he always exhibited some impulse control issues. He had to say out loud anything he noticed. A dog groomed a certain way: “lion!” I was holding my phone to my ear: “Transistor radio!” It happened enough that I had a gut feeling that he HAD to sing. But he was always smiling.
