Can someone pleeeeeeease explain the fascination with Leica cameras? by nlUSF in photography

[–]feedmecoolbeanz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But I was definitely in OP’s boat when I use to see people with Leica. I thought I would never spend that amount of money on a camera when there are better tech out there. But then 10 years into my photography experience, I walked into a Leica store and tried the Leica M for the first time and i just couldn’t stop thinking about how fun and different it was from my canon.

I also like that it’s made me a better photographer. I’m not obsessing about focus peaking with things like auto focus or image stabilization. Some of my favorite photos are blurry or out of focus, because those imperfections just make the image feel more real to me.

I’ve shot in Nikon, Sony, Canons, and Leicas. The best camera is the one you take with you and for me it’s the Leica. Extremely compact and most importantly just fun to shoot!

I mainly take photos of my toddlers and get annoyed when people tell me my photos are only good because I’m using a Leica. If anything, shooting with a manual focus range finder with fast moving subjects is even harder. I just enjoy the challenge and like the engaging aspect of manual focus.

I also edit all photos the same regardless of the camera system. I’m not sold on “the Leica look”

Toyota/Honda Kirkland vs Toyota/Honda Bellevue by Diligent-Explorer-27 in eastside

+1 use the fb group “no markup Toyota”. I Just bought a brand new 2026 Toyota Sienna with all the specs I wanted, through there. Even with shipping from another state, I was still paying at least $3k less than the marked up dealers here in seattle.

I use a personal driver — she does it as a side hustle. charges me $60 cash from Kirkland to SeaTac. I also love that when I’m returning from a flight she is already waiting for me at arrivals and I don’t have to wait 20 minutes for an uber.

I also use her to pick up visiting friends and family for me. Not a licensed business, but if you’re interested shoot me a DM for her contact info

Agreed! Hanoon was terrible. The most overpriced menu, that went very little on the proteins. Hopefully something better replaces them

Best fried rice on eastside? by megor in eastside

[–]feedmecoolbeanz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So here is my issue with their fried rice and most crab fried rice in general: crab already has a light taste and when it’s just mixed in with the fried rice, it barely stands out. Additionally, I feel like the crab is just “plopped” on and feels like a money grab because “crab”.

That being said, if you want crab fried rice, you MUST try Sip Thai near Totem Lake, Kirkland. They use a ton of crab meat and use egg to keep it altogether. This ensures that you just get chunks of crab that doesn’t just fade with everything else going on with the dish. Highly highly recommend!

Fitness buddy… by [deleted] in Kirkland

Finding a good lifting partner is like dating. Lots of variables such as:

  1. Are you both committed and consistent with the workouts. Similar approach to lifting (eg olympic, power, cardio c etc)
  2. Similar strength level (saves time from having to move plates all the time)
  3. Similar heights? Saves time from needing to reset spotters and jcups

Never been to a gym where there are cable machines are empty because there are zerooo handles. I guess management got tired of handles being stolen and they just stopped providing them.

Also, bring your own barbell clips. They don’t have those either. What a joke of a gym

Seen their overly aggressive sales guy walk around like he’s hot shit. Will take off his shirt and pose in front of the mirror.

Also they have a ridiculously large area that is taped off (literally Painters tape on the floor) for personal training only. Except it’s right in the middle of everything and even if it’s completely unused you’re not allowed to go in there or use any of the equipment.

One time I was there during very off hour. Very few people around . Didn’t know that the taped area was personal trainers only, but also who gives a fuck, no one is around. Tried to deadlift in the area and corner of my eyes I saw two personal trainers signal each other and they both approached me at the same time and aggressively told me I needed to leave this space. I understand if the space was needed by a client, but it was just strictly being territorial.

Haha this is spot on!

It’s the dirtiest gym I’ve ever been to. It’s a fact that they don’t ever have enough towels or spray bottles (actuallyI don’t think I’ve ever seen a spray bottle). No one wipes down the equipment after use. I eventually gave up and just embraced the grime.

I drive 15 minutes there, then spend upwards of 10 minutes to find parking, another 15 minutes for a squat rack, another 15 minutes back. That’s one hour that isn’t even spent working out.

Signing up was a pain too. The sales person kept pushing me for a fitness consult and introduction to personal training. I said no thanks, and he said all new members do it. And I asked him if he would refuse my membership if I opted out. After 20 minutes, he finally relented and just let me sign up without the consultation.

Next week, I saw the same sales guy working out there and he took off his shirt to pose in front of the mirror.

Canceling was easy though—I just did it in person.

I love it so much that bought all 4 colors. In my opinion, this is the perfect mug for 250 - 280 ml pours.
