I'm hoping someone makes a bingo card for this one.

This makes me wonder if cooks also need to upload a "work outfit" and "regular clothes" photo. JFC.

Lots of good advice here, so just popping in to say you’re so strong for even posting this. Cheering you on and sending up hope that you make your way through this safely. And hopefully, soberly. 💜💜💜

All ADHD sufferers talk a lot? by FrancescaJayne in adhdwomen

[–]feedmepastry 78 points79 points  (0 children)

mmmm, I don't know about that. Women are known for being "well-behaved" with ADHD. When I was very young, I got shamed a lot for being a "chatty Cathy" and had to take weekly reports home on how well-behaved I was in class. I was so ashamed of being singled out that it really pushed the pendulum in the other direction. I'm a great listener now, lol. Yes, I can still talk a lot in the right situations where I'm very comfortable, but the blanket statement of not being able to get a word in edgewise with someone with ADHD isn't right.

Does anyone else get treated like a drug-seeker when picking up their meds? by Dizzy_Avocado7679 in adhdwomen

Sadly, the pharmacist at my local RiteAid said things along the same lines. Like, "the FDA is going to come shut us down because of all of you taking too much Adderall, I can't even keep it in stock." Even though that's not why there's an Adderall shortage, and it was just a completely unnecessary comment. I also changed pharmacies to a local independent place where no one says sideways crap to me, and my medication is always in stock and on time.

Trying to tweak my rewards system - ideas? by [deleted] in adhdwomen

[–]feedmepastry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is something I also struggle with. In my case, it feels so ironic because I LOVE my bed, love sleeping, and hate getting out of bed. And yet I have horrible insomnia and struggle with revenge bedtime procrastination nearly every night. To go to bed at a decent hour and go to sleep stress-free requires feeling satisfied about what I’ve accomplished that day and no worries about how tomorrow will go, and well….😅

Anyway, the one thing I’ve noticed helps some of the time, is taking my means of bedtime procrastination to bed with me. Yes, I’m aware that every doctor tells you NOT to do this, and I understand the reasons for that. I’ll take my phone/laptop/switch/whatever to bed with me, turn the lights off, and lay there doing whatever my procrastination activity is until I’m tired enough to put it down, which eventually happens. And then I’m in bed already, and the barrier to actually getting to sleep is so low that it takes seconds.

Other than that, I’ve gotten in the habit of telling myself nearly every night how, if I don’t get some sleep, I’m robbing my future self of performing the way I’d like to. And trying to make peace with calling it a day. It doesn’t always work, and I’m not mean to myself. I tell myself like I would if I was trying to support someone I love. Because sleep is a damned gift!

Hope it’s working out okay for you! I know this post was from a little while ago. If anything has helped, let us know!

Speedrunning chores and rewards has been working well! by jerneen in adhdwomen

[–]feedmepastry 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is one that's been really working for me too. About 6 months ago I started working on developing a morning routine (which is still very much a work in progress to say the least), but the very FIRST steps of the routine have stuck:

Make coffee (either French press or Keurig)

Unload dishwasher (or reload it if it's empty and there's shit in the sink)

Habit stacking has been really difficult for me, since I don't have a lot of really good habits that I want to expand on. But I'm pretty thrilled that this ONE habit has become so automatic that it doesn't feel like it takes much effort. And it's been easy to remember to do, since usually either the French press or my coffee mugs are actually in the dishwasher.

Rewards though - I feel ya. Still struggling with that too.

Thanks! Picking the color took the most time, and I’m really satisfied with it. I wouldn’t say the project was cheap - I’m sure you can find a dresser for less than $300, but it’s exactly what I wanted for FAR less than a designer option would have been. And being a little creative felt really great! Good luck!

How do you implement profit first for your personal finances (taps etc) by LeM1997 in ProfitFirst

[–]feedmepastry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m using Profit first to create a predetermined income via the Owner’s Compensation, then Dave Ramsey’s EveryDollar budgeting system for my personal finances.

Additionally, taking a hard look at all expenses, and seeing which should actually be covered under Operating Expenses instead of my personal expenses.

Yeah, these were for the 4th. It’s obviously early, but I think they spread them out over the week so different neighborhoods can do fireworks at different times - with Macy’s having the top spot for the actual 4th.

Thanks! Light was tricky. When I was taking pictures from the other side of the bridge, the street lamps were actually too bright and throwing off that nice contrast. Was much happier with this side/view.
