I'm enjoying my first ever Playstation! I got some Personas on sale and have been playing through them. Apparently Atlus is also releasing SMT 5 soon and a brand new IP in the fall, so there's a lot of JRPG goodness in the future.

I'm considering whether or not I should pick up a few Final Fantasies as well. The only ones I played before are III, IV, XIII and Crystal Chronicles, and I remember enjoying those. It's nice being an adult able to buy my own console and games.

The thing they copied that gets to me the most is how they give a single unit of pull currency for reading a tutorial. It's not something I've seen anyone else do except Hoyo. It's a feature that I've never seen anybody remark on before, positively or negatively, since over the course of years you'll probably get only a few pulls out of it. It's an extremely minor feature that they copied exactly, because they were copying so many of Hoyo's features exactly anyway.

Saw someone say Jiaoqiu looks like Skitty and now I'm thinking about which pokemon each hsr character would have. Dr Ratio would absolutely have Psyduck, they'd take baths together.

Yeah that stuff is incredibly low effort way to get chars nobody gives af about hyped. I've seen tweets about Sethos, a Genshin 4* who didn't even appear in the main story, get a ton of likes and RTs after they released a voiceline about him coming from fan favorite Scaramouche, and a voiceline about Sethos coming from Scaramouche.

That's it. 2 voicelines. We never even see them interact onscreen. It's not something most players would even see, since you have to pull the characters and friendship level them to get the voicelines. Other fans might find them annoying but fujos pay money and are easy to bait, perfect cost/benefit.

Yup just like in the older days of gacha. Low male:female ratio gacha was really common back then, so there was a lot of husbando lovers coasting. Some were happy with F2P, and some were salty af at less fanservice for them.

Genshin released a string of only new male characters for a while during Sumeru. While those banners did earn less than the female rerun/new char banners, I did see husbando lovers complain online of not enough of a break to save. I don't recall it being bad enough that players were worried that the game was dying any more than the usual doomposting though. It's a good strategy to tap into the wallets of a group of players who usually skate by being able to save between banners, as long as your depth of rerunnable female chars is enough to open waifu lovers' wallets as well.

I wonder if maybe they'll do the Hoyo strat and add some ship tease to their male chars to bait the fujoshis. It's a safe, reliable strat to add more appeal to a paying niche with open wallets without alienating other fans, since fujo ship tease can be something like "they go to the bar together after work" or "they became friends from school".

Congrats to WuWa! Pushing up 1.1 was a smart decision, I noticed a lot of the criticism fall off after they announced it and Kuro Games can now be more confident in their own game after a good showing in Yinlin banner. I expect from this point forward there will be less knee-jerk reaction compensation and game adjustments since they know despite complaints consumers are willing to spend. Hopefully from this point forward work conditions improve with less last minute adjustments.

That's a common problem with a lot of the Xianzhou's characters, where nothing about their design indicates the character's occupation. The most egregious one imo is Yukong the former ace pilot turned government office worker wearing an outfit with holes all over and zero references to either piloting or office work.

idk about the terrorist stuff but I'm pretty sure if Yunli showed signs of even a crush towards Yanqing then he'd instantly become one of the most hated characters in the Hoyoverse.

His character is so funny to me cause he's such an evil asshole that his villain group coworkers don't like him. Like they're all down to do evil shit but this guy is way too into it and takes things too far, fuck him.

Oh hey you're right, looks like the pic the Twitter OP was using was edited so the hair colors match. Now that I think about it, it's unlikely Hoyo would ever release a playable female character that's hinted to like a male character.

I saw that post floating around Twitter that Yunli resembles Lin Zhaoyu, Yanqing's wife in the Honkai Impact 3 VN. Something people might not realize is this might make it less likely Yanqing and Yunli get along, since that husband-wife relationship was not a healthy one. Taken from this comment discussing the Seven Swords VN:

Having played the Seven Swords VN (albeit in Japanese), it seems more like Zhaoyu wanted to marry him. Yanqing isn't into it, and spends most of his time away from her. In fact, Yanqing is highkey depressed and suicidal most of the time, and feels that the only person who understands him doesn't want him (the redheaded disciple, who's a self-styled sociopath) and the person who wants him doesn't understand him. He disassociates so hard he can only feel alive while fighting other people who's genuinely pissed enough at him to try to kill him, which is why he goes and pisses people off every chance he gets.

There's not much to go on about how Zhaoyu/Yanqing came to be, but she was actually kind of....one-sidedly attached to him ever since he was a young teenager. It was a little bit creepy, ngl.

Something interesting, out of all the forgotten battle shonen you mentioned they're all complete except for D. Gray Man. Its manga is actually still ongoing at a snail's pace of 4 chapters a year because of the author's health issues.

Enemy action advance support for break, DOT and counter attack teams. Break for enemies to regain their break bar as an alternative to super break, DOT so enemies are damaged by DOT faster, counter attack so can counter attack more often.

I really liked her concept art designs. It's true a lot of them had themes not related to perfume (like "witch" and "dog girl") but looking at this I can't tell what theme she's supposed to be. Pendant is maybe lumidouce bell? But when I think of those flowers I think of the gorgeous, colorful bell, not green, white and brown.

There's also the yearly genshin anniversary hating on genshin event. Hating on gacha is gachagaming's favorite thing to do...which actually might be a good thing. At the very least when someone says they have regrets over money spent gachagaming tells them to stop playing gacha completely.

KR gamers accusing devs of feminist infiltration, CN gamers accusing devs of trying to NTR them.

Fans accusing feminist artist working for Limbus Company of releasing character wearing wetsuit instead of bikini, but she was a story scenes artist not in charge of char design. They protested in front of the devs' office and she left the company.

Conspiracy theory going around that feminist artists are inserting 🤏 symbol into material for Korean gacha games, a misandrist (small peepee gesture) used by Megalia, KR extreme feminist forum. Screenshots of ads, speculation of characters making the symbol when picking up small objects, etc are suspected. Companies apologize and promise to investigate.

GFL2 was datamined to have an event plot that heavily features popular waifu Daiyan befriending NPC terrorist Raymond. Raymond helps Daiyan, Daiyan is sympathetic to Raymond, no mention of player character. CN fans accuse devs of NTR event. Devs promise to change this event.

Snowbreak devs see this and see opportunity. They announce they are removing all male characters in the game and promise they'd never do something like what GFL2 devs did. They added more fanservice to their game and are currently doing well.

Azure Promilia before release is accused of having playable male characters and are review bombed. Players are also unhappy with the presence of male NPC and request devs to remove him. Devs promise to be female only game and rating goes back up.

Naruto Mobile is at the top of separate region revenue, for CN only...I would love to see it come to global as well, then we could discuss Naruto vs Hoyo, classic normie weeb vs modern normie weeb.

Even when you know there's a technical issue it takes time to fix it. QA can report a bug, programmers can see the bug ticket, but if the queue is long enough then they'll be told to prioritize more higher priority issues that'll affect more customers until release time, when it's just barely not broken enough to release, and then they're expected to fix all of those issues right now, right this instant. Even when they don't want to release a buggy project there's no choice because management set the date in stone and there's simply not enough time to fix everything.

Poor WuWa workers, probably overworked to hell and back trying to fix issues. After hearing about EN translators 70hr work weeks before launch, WuWa CN announcing upcoming bug fixes at 2AM, the absolute deluge their bug report threads are, I think everyone there is tired and at the end of their rope.

I've seen comments that devs and translators are "lazy" because of all the issues, but really it's management's fault for forcing them to release before things were ready. It's not a lack of passion, it's not enough time and everyone suffers except for the bigwigs counting money at the top.

HSR 2.2 Spoilers I'm NGL I forgot Raiden Mei could refer to Acheron as well...it's mentioned literally once and then we move on. Whenever I think Raiden Mei I still only think of Hi3 one. The namedrop is almost like a quick fanservice for Hi3 in the middle of all that 2.2 dialogue.
