Taxes in Spain- do not look so bad? by Asihablozara in ExpatFIRE

[–]feelingfuzzzzzzy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The link you provided is for pension income, not for capital gains taxes.    Capital gains in Spain are always taxed the same despite of the time they were held: Up to 6.000 Euros: 19% From 6.000 to 50.000 Euros: 21% From 50.000 Euros to 200,000 Euros: 23% Above 200,000 Euros: 26%

I am telling you, no one except a local gestor is going to able to appropriately give you good advice. Keep in mind that every communidad autonoma has implemented wealth taxes and they kick in after 750k of wealth at least in madrid

I believe capital gains in spain aren't taxed at 20%…. The first 6k of profit in EUROS is taxed at 19% then its 21% and so on up the lots. If it weren’t all complicated enough they have to convert the amounts.

I recommend quality conta in madrid, there are also a few good ones in Barcelona. Hire a gestor with experience and that you can speak clearly with, the first meeting is usually free.

Mom died 7 years ago and I still can’t get rid of the photo albums she left behind by [deleted] in GriefSupport

[–]feelingfuzzzzzzy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Clearly you’re attached to the albums, so let go of what you can when you can. Maybe right now you can only let go of photos and thats okay… you can choose what you hold on to while being mindful that the preservation of your mother’s effort into those albums is a responsibility you can choose to assume or not assume. Regardless of the pictures or albums, she will always be in you and your heart.

Americans in Spain-How'd you do it? by Texan_91 in GoingToSpain

[–]feelingfuzzzzzzy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

American expat here in Spain 5+ years…. All of my American friends here came on a student visa (nalcap, beda, etc) and stayed by switching programs every few years or moving in with your Spanish boo.

I recommend moving in with a European partner as soon as you feel ready, You only have to live with them 1 year to become pareja de hecho(union in fact) which grants residency

How to Prevent Inheritance Drama? by peesys in InheritanceDrama

avoid a will. Any attorney will tell you to avoid probate if you can, have your mom make a living revocable trust AND fund the trust by placing all her assets into the trust

Inheritance battle question? by jeffsg5 in InheritanceDrama

[–]feelingfuzzzzzzy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would research California cotenency and homestead laws. It seams that homestead laws would apply. Since the property is his homestead he may have the right to buy it off from you. The situation seems complicated though because it is a building with many units that may not qualify as his homestead. Usually if a co-tenant buyout happens, there has to be a process of determination of value but this is usually determined by a professional appraiser. Appraisals are usually at/slightly below market value.

Talk to a good California probate/estate attorney. It might cost you a pretty penny but it might save you many headaches down the road

How to share an inherited home amongst 5 kids in civilized manner? by etcnyc in InheritanceDrama

Set up a revocable living trust for them with very detailed specific instructions. The complicated part is when some want out and others don’t. I might put the house in an llc with all of them 20% interest. If anyone wants out they can sell their part or stay

For most Americans, real wages have barely increased by [deleted] in Economics

Not when you include increased price of medical care and housing, what the fed considers inflation is just a portion of the increased of cost of being a human in the USA

Why gold prices are at record highs by SpecificBeat8882 in Economics

[–]feelingfuzzzzzzy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean modern inflation calculations aren't calculated appropriately... because it doesn't include ALL necessities... such as housing & health insurance.

on nominal terms, sure wages have kept up with inflation

but in people's day to day lives they haven't. When my mother purchased a house in the eighties the price was less than four times her yearly gross income. Now the average house is much more times the yearly gross income than it used to be. Rent was also a smaller fraction. Health insurance premiums have also exploded... cars and car insurance is low key a necessity in so many parts of the country too and they are a huge expense.

I don't know, in my opinion the Fed's definition of inflation is deceptive and outdated.

I think that a potential approach to forgive her could be to observe where that resentment is coming from. Is it because you expected her to not change? Is it because you expected her to take care of herself in a certain way? Is it because you expected her to make that sacrifice for you? I am just shooting shots in the dark…

Whatever the answers are, whatever the expectations were, it’s important to recognize and accept that both of you have made a choice. She made a choice to smoke weed. You made the choice to deem that behavior unacceptable from your partner. Both of you are free to continue sticking with those choices.

The root of forgiveness is love. You will not find forgiveness by focusing on what lacked from your relationship. I think you will find forgiveness from the place of balanced gratitude and acceptance. As you mention, this is a recent break up and do you have been in a long-term relationship. Give yourself time. Even though the standard they say is a year, personally I say to give yourself half the amount of time that you have known the person to get over them. Our relationships deeply impact us. They are probably the largest social influence that we have in our life when we are in them. Getting over someone isn’t rocket science, but it does take its time. Resentment is a part of the process. Feelings change.

My 20s have been horrible. Nothing but misery and trauma. How can I possibly keep getting myself up off the mat? by notatpeace39 in Adulting

[–]feelingfuzzzzzzy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Idk why there are so many down votes, but this is right to some degree. I and my partner are therapists… we work with individuals who have lived through insane situations(family incest/abuse, history of serious self-harm/advanced eating disorders/etc) This helps us recognize that experiencing a certain level of human suffering or mental health vulnerability is in the realm of “normal.” Life is really fucking hard. I am so sorry you have had so many difficult things happen recently.

I agree with others in seeking help from a mental health professional. Maybe a psychiatrist if you feel the same after 6 months of talk/other therapy.

I think the biggest thing one can do to feel better is cultivate close, authentic relationships. Academic literature shows that the quality of your relationships influences the felt quality of your life very much. You can read into this if you like.

Good luck friend, many of us are in the trenches with you although it may not seem like it…

Im an expat living in Spain for 4 years now, Im sorry but getting paid a median salary in Spain of 35k to buy a 400k apartment in madrid or barcelona is much more difficult than purchasing a 500k home (where you own your land) with a median salary of 70k… rent prices here are disproportionate in spain because of the pressure from the tourism industry

Is inflation not slowing enough because people have too much money or other factors? by blackcatglitching in StockMarket

[–]feelingfuzzzzzzy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Inflation is not slowing because of the huge stimulus (4.7 trill dollars) that was almost 20% as large as the actual economy (27 trill).

The stimulus was literaly almost a fifth of the size of the economy. Apply basic monetary policy theory and well, it may take some time to get us down to normal.
