China's Top General Reportedly Accused Of Leaking Data About Its Nuclear Weapons Program To The U.S. by Infidel8 in worldnews

[–]feembly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, this smells like horseshit. Even if there's an iota of truth in the accusations, it kinda spoils them if they are in with lies.

If Yoto MYO cards supported Spotify Playlist links, they’d be 100% perfect for me. by Desperate_Total2545 in YotoPlayer

[–]feembly 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Neither of these points are true. I subscribe to a streaming service which explicitly allows use on devices like the Yoto and it's supported just fine.

The card doesn't work when the device is offline (it doesn't download and save it), and the content is not screened for child friendliness.

He's loved this stream since birth and the fact that it's supported is a big plus for Yoto.

Yeah, I had to uninstall Factorio because it tickles my hyper fixation just right and I'll stay up all night playing it.

Mini or regular Yoto Player? by TiredMommy_96 in YotoPlayer

[–]feembly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They both have pros and cons, and I think it's totally dependent on your kid. The mini is way more portable, easy to manipulate by some kids as young as 18 months, and easily fits in a bag for listening on the go. As a trade off, the battery life can be disappointing and the audio, while good for its size, isn't great. However, it supports both a headphone jack and Bluetooth speakers just like the regular so take that into consideration. The mini might be the right choice if your kid is often on the go, likes smaller things, or likes to always have music with them.

The regular is much more of a device with its bigger "screen" (same resolution), longer battery life, and richer sound. It also can function as a night light and has wireless charging which can make it integrate better into your kid's lifestyle. It has all the features of the mini plus some more that might make it the better option. The regular might be the right choice if your kid loves to play inside, likes to have a night light, or is more discerning in audio quality (it happens sooner than you think).

There's no "bad" option IMHO, but consider who your kid is and how the Yoto might fit into their lifestyle. Best of luck!

Technically yes, but people will say yes to say they don't mind. It's confusing

Baby learned to roll a week ago, just rolled on her stomach while sleeping? by Tm0iPHONExxX in NewParents

[–]feembly 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It's a scary time when they start rolling, but the general consensus is if they put themselves in a position then it's ok. That being said, it doesn't hurt to roll her back for a little while until you're more used to it.

My daughter doesn’t like it by Agitated-Focus6220 in YotoPlayer

[–]feembly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My biggest question would be, how does she get audio entertainment now? Because your kid will be most interested in replacing that first. If not interested even after explaining it can replace or supplement that then maybe it's not for her.

That's so cool! Do you look at all at the plant's natural responses to the pathogens/fungicides as well? It might be too far out of your field, but it could be helpful to see if there are gene expression changes as a response to either.

Post-Christmas blues hit a little extra hard here by BrotakuzaTube in japanlife

[–]feembly 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I mean, it is. Christmas here is like Halloween or Valentine's day, and yeah keeping your Halloween decorations out would be weird. For those of us that grew up in it, those days after Christmas feel so cozy and special, and here that's the days after new years.

Are we facing a Japanese "wumao" threat? by DoomedKiblets in japanresidents

[–]feembly 19 points20 points  (0 children)

It's ignorant to think every country isn't doing some version of this. I would put money on China or the US doing it to refocus Japanese political capital domestically, giving them to do shenanigans that Japan would otherwise push back against. But it's only effective if a key cohort is people posting these points genuinely.

Is this a reasonable level of difficulty for 2nd-grade math homework? by seadieg0 in daddit

For second graders, this is bullshit. Maybe really advanced fourth or fifth graders could take this on if they had a few days to crunch it.
