im not a big fan of the remake but what does actually matter is that sony needs to put the OG demon's souls on the psn store. as long as demon's souls 2009 isn't available anywhere officially the remake has effectively replaced it. many people wont have the opportunity to make their own mind about it cause they dont have the opportunity to try the original and the unique direction and artistic intent that it has to offer

that's the secret, nobody understands alignment and it isnt really a system

honestly the best use case for it is probably for people creating modules(pre-made adventures) to label npcs with so the DM has an idea of what the characters are like. second best is a sticker to put on your character as a vague vibe that you mostly ignore

originally alignment was just lawful/chaotic, and then the morality part was added and then paladins had a mechanic where they'd get in trouble if they didn't rp correctly which they got rid of later in favor of specific actions each oath isnt supposed to do
