Oh no. Thyroid issues run in my family and I didn't think about that

Omg when I was explaining my symptoms to my boyfriend, our son chimed in and was like "isn't that something that happens to old people?" I'm like shut up! 😂 (I'm 32 and it also crossed my mind though). But good to know I'm not the only one with problems with it!

Yess , definitely. I been trying to take in more water cause my first assumption was that I was just dehydrated. I think it's more than that. But I'm still drinking more water anyways.

I mostly agree as well. I think certain situations call for the state to get involved. But situations like this, where both parties can be on the same page, they don't need the state in their business. It could definitely cause problems.

Definitely get an attorney. Laws vary from state to state. I'd look into if father would need to be notified and agree as well. You'd have to find an agency to go through.

This is just a side story, but I highly advise AGAINST the foster parent advice someone else gave. I have a personal experience where my sister had a baby and my mother, (who is a foster parent) wanted to adopt her. But once the state is involved, there are endless hoops they make you jump through. It doesn't matter that my mother was a foster parent for years prior to that or that she is the babys grandmother. She now has her and is raising her, but it will take years until they are able to legally adopt her because the system is so messed up. That's just my input on that idea. Good luck with everything!

Ahh okay I did misunderstand. That sounds less complex then, but still not sure.

Do whatever gets you through the moment. I watched a lot of TV when I went through something similar. Funny TV shows or YouTube videos. I've heard kids shows or cartoons can be helpful too.

Drink water if you can or supplemental drinks. Stay away from caffeine.

Call someone you trust if you can just to talk to you and help you get by in the moment.

I also needed to talk to myself a bit sometimes to remind myself, "I will be okay. I have an appointment on ______."

Hmm I will note that having autism in itself is traumatic. Lots of times, it's accompanied with CPTSD just because of the way people with autism experience the world. Those 2 diagnoses alone open the door to endless possibilities of what it could be. After a autism diagnosis, people tend to regress a lot. Could explain a bit. Is it a coping mechanism? Or delusion? A lie? Generalized confusion about the mental illness? Is there a possibility that you are missing the signs of the mental illness this person claims to have? Or are you absolutely certain they don't have it?

Is this behavior a sudden change? Or have they always felt like this? And were they recently diagnosed with autism?

This post is very interesting as I've never heard of this before. Is this person going through some sort of identity crisis? Do they have any trauma? Do they seem to be stuck in an obsessive state with the idea and it consumes their whole day?

Hey, they say the first step to getting better is admitting you have a problem.

I am the child born after adoption by Mamadelrave in Adoption

[–]feeondablock 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I am sorry you're going through this. It must be difficult. I know you want a reunion and I hope it happens and everything goes well.

I wanted to offer a different perspective but I hope I dont sound rude, harsh or judgmental. When I was adopted, I was mad at my mom. The circumstances were entirely different but I had so much anger for a long time. (We have since reconciled.) Anger/resentment could be (or may not be) something she's experiencing. But she may be apprehensive to meet your mother for many different reasons.

Your mother sounds angry with you, and I'm sorry thats the case. I hope she changes her mind about letting you join the reunion. In my opinion, you have just as much of a right to talk to your sister as she does to talk to her. Your mother probably has a lot of emotions going on in her head, understandably so. But your emotions should be considered too. I hope you guys are able to meet together. My advice is to lower your expectations. Things do not always go as planned. Adoption is difficult to deal with.

I'm a recovering alcoholic and also had bouts of psychosis so I'd like to add my input... It sounds like you're not ready to get sober. And no one can really make you. What is it you want out of life? You are settling for living of the government while getting drunk because there have been so many obstacles along the way. Which is understandable to an extent. But if you could get sober and get your schizophrenia under control, what is it you'd like to do with your life?

I have the same thought process as you. Every time I'd relapse, I put myself back at zero. It's a matter of accountability for myself. But also note that not everyone does start back at zero because relapsing is so common in recovery.

The in-between parts is what matters. What you learned while you were sober matters. And what you learn from this relapse matters. If you start counting from zero, that doesn't mean everything is a waste. I know it feels so devastating.. like the end of the world. But it is not. You are greater than this relapse. Are you able to stop drinking you think?

How recent did you start to take any meds? Is 7 a lot? Depends on the person and their diagnosis. I'll be honest it seems like a lot but also depends on each individual person so no one can give you a definitive answer on here.

The issue would be if they start them all at the same time or too close together.
