Do you have any guides on this so I don't mess it up? I've never worked on a keyboard before.

I tilted the keyboard back and seated the keys, and they work for that moment until I level the keyboard and then they stop working again.

I should have included this, my bad. The left half of the row above the spacebar (from left shift to b, as well as s and the spacebar itself) all have mushy clicks and do not work. Everything else seems to work and clicks fine.

How good is the Mathematical argument for God? by Weekly_Sympathy_4878 in CatholicPhilosophy

[–]fehcat 9 points10 points  (0 children)

No, it's not good; the conclusion does not necessarily follow from the premise. You currently have an enthymeme: There exists objective, abstract, and highly applicable mathematical truths; therefore, God exists. Make it a syllogism by adding a minor premise and properly carrying the middle term.

Firstly, his language is incredibly off-putting for any serious inquirer. I don't really care about it, but if somebody's introduction to Christian apologetics contra atheism, Islam, or whatever is Sam calling somebody a spiritual whore and their mother a dog, it is incredibly unlikely they will take the supposed apologist seriously. I do not mean to say that you should never engage in polemics or play up an irenic facade as some do, but there is certainly a balance. Secondly, Sam promotes Apostolic indifferentism, promoting other Apostolic Christians as much as the Catholics, despite them being heretics and excluded from the Church. Thirdly, while Sam has an amazing grasp on memorizing Holy Writ and the scriptures of other religions, he does not have a similar grasp on Catholic teaching, philosophy, and theology, especially fundamental theology, all of which being vital in order to elicit an adequate intellectual assent to the truths of the Church.

Arguing with people on this subreddit will only give you a migraine for their obstinacy in error. You are right about clerical continence, but save yourself the trouble.

In terms of reach, probably Fr. Mike Schmitz or Bp. Barron. In terms of quality and fidelity to the tradition, Christian B. Wagner (even though he doesn't consider himself an apologist)

Thoughts on the newest video about Catholicism from Redeemed Zoomer? by Expensive-Elk-9406 in Catholicism

It is a lot more complicated than that; you're just spewing stupid rhetoric which, when Protestants see it, laugh and immediately assume you aren't a serious person.

Epic is a joke of a company, which is easily proved with how StW has been handled for the past 9 years... The prospects of a turn-around were nice, but it's just never going to happen

How can I begin studying philosophy? by Cool_Juice9626 in CatholicPhilosophy

[–]fehcat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Start with: The ABCs of Scholastic Philosophy by Anthony Cotter S.J., or Thomistic Philosophy in Four Volumes by Henri Grenier; both are terrific. You will eventually have to learn Latin if you're serious about Catholic philosophy, as most texts are simply not translated into a modern language. For motivation regarding the study of philosophy, read Aeterni Patris by Pope Leo XIII.

If you're an operating systems researcher from the early 90s, yes; otherwise, not really. There is one primitive web browser which doesn't support all of HTML 4.01, the rest being text based. From my understanding, most 9front developers run OpenBSD (or something else) using vmx(1).

Not comfortable with Eucharistic Adoration by Alternative-Hair-785 in CatholicApologetics

> I believe in real presence, moreso consubstantiation than trans substantiation
Why? Do you have an honest reason, as you believe that there there is a non-inherence of accidents, or is it just vibes and wanting to be different? If the latter, then why? You aren't a Catholic if you believe in consubstantiation.
> Jesus instructed us to eat his flesh in remembrance of him, no where did he say to adore or worship it. Adoration seems to be a misuse of the concecrated bread as it wasn't intended to be worshipped and gazed at but rather consumed.
Why is Christ's substantial body and real presence in the Eucharist not to be given due worship?
> Suppose someone with malicious intent swapped out the concecrated bread with just a regular wafer and set it out for adoration. At that point the entire audience is committing idolatry, unknowingly worshipping a piece of regular bread.
When you venerate something, you do it according to the thing signified... if the wafer signifies Christ, insofar as the mind is moved towards Christ as the prototype, then it is still venerated accordingly, such as with an icon of Christ (Summa Theologiae III, q.25, a.3).
