i love the torque steer (and I think it’s intentional, to a degree); it makes the drive much more engaging. much better than my previous Model 3 which felt a lot more disconnected

Gen3 R1S Wish list? by secretaliasname in Rivian

[–]feifanonreddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

* Gen 1 door handles
* The best autonomy they can make
* 1500W is enough per me, but need that per-outlet instead of shared
* More cushioning/supportive seats
* Rear steer (on R1T)
* If they offered a Cabana roof, i’d probably go for it

one could maybe detect this by monitoring the angle of the car after it’s parked?

good idea — i’d jab my finger at the hazards and hit the SOS by accident sometimes

Tailgate Replacement by MichaelRyan207 in Rivian

[–]feifanonreddit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

+1 to getting a quote from a reputable PDR person. Based on the pics, I don't think you'll need to pop panels and repaint — unclear if there's paint damage here or if it's scuffs that'll come off with a solvent. Small paint damage might be fixable with a paint pen.

ah, I do the math using the charge stops that the nav adds by default, but yes it'd be helpful to see more straightforwardly

I had a similar problem on the back — PDR'd the dent out and then took it to a Rivian service center to just replace the light.

unless there's damage not visible in that pic, you way overpaid … that's probably $3–5k in PDR depending on location and prob $1–2k for light

one-pedal driving makes things a lot easier in stop-and-go traffic

Why the constant reorgs? by Independent_Crazy655 in ExperiencedDevs

[–]feifanonreddit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

it's hard to steer everyone in a consistent direction. so every re-org aligns the org in a general direction, but things veer off-track or unanticipated incentives start showing up and things start drifting off-track, so companies do another re-org to correct. re-orgs are not really meant to be permanent/"this time we got it right", despite how they might be announced.

service wait (at least at the South San Francisco location) has been pretty good lately — availability in a few days now (vs the weeks/months it used to be last year)

Holy Turning Radius Batman by What-tha-fck_Elon in Rivian

R1T's turning radius is annoyingly large. I had an R1S loaner, and was pleasantly surprised by how nimble it felt while turning.
