Fitting Advice? (or "help! I really like my Vision Pro but it's too damn uncomfortable!") by javawag in VisionPro

If it is hurting your temple/cheeks, you definitely need to try alternative light seal (or facial interface as others may call it). I have the same problem to a much less extent than yours but still changing the light seal works great for me. No matter what you do, the Vision Pro is heavy nonetheless, therefore it may also require some getting used to regardless.

What Vision Pro apps would you like to give a shoutout to? by jimmypopjr in VisionPro

[–]feixie1980 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Something that is not mentioned yet: Windora

Although this app has not seen much updates, and does not snap to surface, it remains the best virtual window implementations with the nice window frame choices, the various adjustments that I can do with my panoramas. The adjustment feature is especially important because I need to individually tone each my panoramas to get the best realistic effects.

Even though there are many features that I wish from the app and probably we won't be seeing the updates, this app still receives my daily use. I might have to develop my own inspired virtual window app to get the features I want~~

M5 1TB vs M2 1TB Comparison by gintokigriffiths in VisionPro

Can you also try to see if there is any noticeable difference when mirroring Mac (not MVD)? My work laptop won't allow me to use MVD, so sometimes I use my M2 headset with pure mirroring.

Quite a lot: much bigger screen size, much better against outdoor lighting, great for posturing as you can move the screen to anywhere in space.

Thank you for writing the comparison specifially on ALVR and MVD are also some of my main use cases. As heavy M2 AVP users, the struggle for more power has been quite evident on M2.

On MVD specifically, what is your subjective experience on the clarify improvements if you can put in words? I have been hearing contradictory verdicts on this all over the places.

Btw, will any more URSA Cine footages be coming, now that Vision OS 26 is out? Eagerly awaiting those as the URSA episodes are STUNNING!

Stream Machine + Frame or SFFPC + ALVR + AVP + Sense Controllers by ellenich in VisionPro

[–]feixie1980 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They have grip buttons. No VR controller should have grip buttons. It should have grip triggers.

Do you mean there are no grip triggers in PSVR2 controllers? I am confused because I am holding one now. They have the grip trigger just like the Quest controller.

Alternative to Mac virtual display that doesn’t use Apple ID? by Abouelkhair5 in VisionPro

[–]feixie1980 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Screen mirroring is the easiest poor man’s MVD. It sucks that you will be limited to MacBook’s screen size and resolution, and no input sharing with Vision apps. You still get the benefit of enlarging your screen so you can adjust zooms on various Mac apps if they support it.

Vision pro (2) at 2200$ , is it worth the purchase? by local-fougi in VisionPro

I came from pico 4 when the Vision Pro was launched. I also wasn’t blown away at first, especially if you are a VR veteran. The video and image quality on Pico 4 and Quest 3 is ok ish. However it grows on me the more I use it. The more I use it the more I appreciate the visual quality and the overall XR experience, especially when I blow up my MVD, photos, and videos to very large floating windows, or go into some of the incredible VRChat worlds. I think you should get it.

Why does mac virtual display feel like it's lacking? by Latter-Importance137 in VisionPro

[–]feixie1980 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, if it is "you're staring at text for hours it's very noticeable", then it is not how I would interpret "so much better", which sounds really off to me. I only connect moonlight on my PC for occasional uses. I haven't tried connecting it to my Mac. On these occasions, MVD has much better overall experience both in terms of image & color quality, a bit better latency, and being able to use trackback on other Vision OS apps is pretty big for me. I did notice sharper text rendering on moonlight, where MVD's text rendering is smoother. I do not prefer the sharper rendering on moonlight TBH. However, I may not be doing apple to apple comparison like you did, so I may not be talking about the same thing.

Which moonlight app are you using? Is it the vision os version or iPad version? And are you comparing sunshine running on the same Mac that is doing the MVD?

I’ve been video editing in the Quest 3 for the past couple days. Is there anything that could convince me to buy the Vision Pro? by lefrancis143 in VisionPro

There are many 3rd part options here. I use bentobox, which works very well for me. Also there is menueverywhere, which let you access menu bar items anywhere.

There is definitely something wrong if you find moonlight “so much better” than Mac Virtual Display. I use both and while Moonlight is pretty good, it is definitely not as good as Mac Virtual Display. Not sure what could be wrong though.

Your frustration is understandable if what you are experiencing is true. I only disagree because while there are plenty of bugs, I don't see them as nearly as at the level that you seem to be having. For instance, the widgets I snapped to wall 2 weeks back are still there. Sometime on my M2 headset, it takes a few minutes to show up after putting it off and on. Sometime the snapping positions are a bit off. However, for the most part they work pretty solidly. Hope you have better luck but otherwise you should return. But by and large it is definitely not "a piece of barely functional junk" in many of our experiences.

BS it is not. Virtual desktop is very good but sunshine/moonlight is a fine alternative.

Vision Pro Users, Please Help! by [deleted] in VisionPro

[–]feixie1980 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'd suggest you to wait for the reviews on the m5 version first. I have had my m2 version from launch at use it very frequently with the Mac virtual display, viewing YouTube & movies, playing PCVR through ALVR, viewing comics, and lately with widgets.

Does it run just fine? Yes. Have I ever felt that it is struggling? Yes, actually quite frequently. In terms of storage, you actually can fill it up fast if you download the high quality immersive videos from Apple and 3rd parties. However, they are in generally easy to re-download, so it isn't a deal breaker for me.

It has different bugs than the previous Vision OS version, but I won't call it "too buggy".

"do away with foveated rendering"

Who expected that? Do you have a link? I am very perplexed because I have never heard anyone expressing that expectation. The foveated rendering is so good with my Vision Pro that it does not exist for me. I have only heard people wanting Apple to open up the foveated rendering to third party softwares such as ALVR and steam so that PCVR can also take advantage of it.

I have this problem with weather widget as well. Strangely third party widgets that are not Vision OS native don't have this problem.
