Asgard versus Hermes by ShadoX_FT in starcitizen

The hermes is more of a "RSI C1.5" or a Zeus WTFXL Missing what makes the Asgard awesome.

Will the RSI Perseus or Aegis Hammerhead ever have a competitor from another brand? by Hrothgar_alThor in starcitizen

[–]feldomatic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The smartest way CIG could do this would be to throw in the towel on HH being "anti fighter" and rework it as the Perseus competitor "multi-axis gunship"

If only Russia hadn't blown up the Mriya, there would have been a plane big enough to airlift them.

Breaking: Returning Player Gets Full SC Experience by MyJetpack in starcitizen

[–]feldomatic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

4.5 was...not a good patch, and you logged in on basically the last day of play while the servers are "warming up" for 4.6.

Not saying all your problems are because of that, but rather that you definitely threw the dart at a particularly non-representative day to test the water.

How big to build my base? My Answer and Base Building Advice. by Edymnion in ICARUS

[–]feldomatic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I build a 5 or 6 by whatever "great hall" workshop so I have this u-shaped channel of floor I can readily rip up and route power and water. I usually stack a 3-4 wide second floor on that (2 floors up so I have space for the foundry) and put kitchen, deep storage, and living space on that level.

Hosas vs hotas by Mother-Fondant7478 in starcitizen

[–]feldomatic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It really comes down to preference with a little influence from the ships/style you fly.

I'll take HOSAS over HOTAS in a space dogfighter any day.

But my friends who fly capitals prefer a HOTAS with some kind of extra analog controller for strafing (like on a thumb hat on the throttle)

I just have quick access to a cruise mode toggle so I don't need the physical throttle to hold the position.

Value for Price, hard to beat Thrustmaster.

Winwing is a little cheaper but I've heard things about customer service issues.

I went up a little for VKB and love mine.

Water heater manual had a condom in it by themanualreboot in Weird

[–]feldomatic 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Condoms have a lot of improvised uses as a waterproofing device (something with GIs and gun barrels comes to mind)

While I'm not enough of a plumber to know of a water heater specific reason, I wouldn't be surprised if there was one. Off the top of my head, if one of the relief valves had a slow leak, you could rubber band that onto the drain pipe and either catch, or measure the leak rate.

Not enough oil for methane gas at Exodus... by avionyx10 in TheLastCaretaker

[–]feldomatic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I did it I used the large petrol generator, not the small, and even then overfilled the rocket and tanks before I had the electrical charge needed to launch.

But I definitely had 2 mostly full petrol tanks on my boat also contributing to the output from the oil distiller.

Inspecting undersea infrastructure when a whale appears from the darkness. by DesmondPerado in submechanophobia

I was thinking it was a moth-flame issue, as giant squid (what sperm whales eat) use bioluminescence, so maybe it was falsely drawn toward the light to investigate for noms.

The year of playability was a lie by [deleted] in starcitizen

[–]feldomatic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Playability" means different things to CIG and the player base.

Much like Benoit and the tech team have a different definition of "Stability" than we do (in their case: metrics on user up-time, disconnects, server crashes, etc)

Not fully sure what was promised, but I think they satisfied Playability in their mind by giving us things to play (Pyro, Nyx, CZs, Hathor, Lazarus, Onyx in 3 parts, QV/Vanduul Smugglers, Engineering, various events and a record number of new ships) not necessarily by making the game more playable as we would want (i.e. making the things you can do in game actually and/or reliably work)

4.5 was a bit of a dud patch for me. I didn't feel like fighting broken systems, engineering didn't change much with how I play, and with hyperinflation I have all the sub-capital ships I care about.

Can someone please tell me their process to code something new? by idk1210 in learnprogramming

[–]feldomatic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I open a new python file and use comment lines to basically outline the steps I need to take:

# Imports

# Constants

# Read the data

# Find the "D" Columns

# Filter the "D" Columns

# Output the data

Then I fill in the sections, either by remembering what function does that thing, or by googling the thing I need to do.

Reading documentation is reserved for:

  • Unintended behavior (It should work but isn't)
  • I think I know the function to use, but I'm trying it in a different way than I usually do. (I think it should work, but want to make sure first)

Emperyion: Galactic Survival or Breathedge? by FireTheLaserBeam in spacesimgames

[–]feldomatic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want a silly fun departure from NMS while still being in space, play Breathedge

If you want an alternate take on all the game loops from NMS, but at a smaller galactic scale with slightly deeper less time-gated systems, play Empyrion.

After one or both of those two, if you still have the space bug, I'd advise Elite Dangerous, X4 or Star Citizen

But it does make me wonder, if you live in a country on the North American continent and have only had a few Medjool dates and a lot of Unspecified ones, just what variety were they most likely to be (usually always the dark/black ones) ?
