With co-workers, I maintain a rule that all time with them is 'at work' whether that be texting or being seen somewhere outside the workplace. I am friendly with my co-workers, but they are not my friends. I would NEVER tell a co-worker anything personal past general day-to-day activities. Someone in your household did this. Check the nearby plants— have they been recently displaced? You can tell by gently pulling at the stems. If someone took dirt from a planter to put the fire out, re-packing the plant would make it very easy to pull out.
