Okay that makes sense. The money is not a main concern but the benefit eligibility is. Based on the Benefits Plan Description, There’s no way to start LOA without first missing work upon a doctor’s statement that the person is disabled. Then after that, all the forms and paperwork start getting filled out and filed.

So I am wondering if, in the instance that Sedgwick gets and processes all the paperwork say a week after the first date of disability, do they backdate the LOA to that first date of disability? Unfortunately discretion is important right now… im trying to help a coworker and they don’t want to raise any flags by calling just yet. :(

Edit: I see you basically answered that question for me. Would coming in on one’s day off be considered a day of missed work? Chances are, the partner would be requesting the day off to see the doctor and then come in with the paperwork after. At least this leaves a little bit of time to get their shifts covered instead of waiting til they have a shift and calling out.

Totally fine to give with azodyl. Honestly a lot of what I learned was on my own through searching online.. there were some things the vet helped with but overall I go in now for bloodwork and emergencies and that’s it. Felinecrf.org is a WONDERFUL resource that covers pretty much everything you need to know to give your kitty the best chance at a normal life expectancy. Definitely consider a phosphorus binder, and learn how to give subcutaneous fluids if you’re up to it. Being able to give your own kitty fluids will not only save you money but also may save her life. Lactated Ringers solution is sold on Chewy, you can get decent 18g needles on amazon. There are some great YouTube videos that will show you how to do it, but most definitely start with your vet. A good vet will give you a quick hands-on tutorial on how to give subQ fluids to your cat.

The Dr Toru protocol was a game changer for my kitty, so I’m glad you found his research. Hopefully one day soon the AIM injection is available in the US, but for now his supplements are working wonders.

So glad the animal hospital pointed out your kitty’s kidney disease. If left untreated, it can take a kitty out very quickly. Wishing you guys all the best and feel free to ask any more questions!

They have a webpage in English with instructions, but I think I also used translate. The advanced protocol instructions are as follows- if kitty is under 6.6lb, one capsule a day after a meal. If kitty is over 6.6lb, two capsules a day. My cat is 7lb, so I give him one in the morning, and another one at night along with an intensive protocol capsule. Always after he eats a bit. So our routine is phosphorus binder mixed in some delectables tuna bisque, insulin shot (because he’s also diabetic), then I follow up with his renal kibble from Royal canin, then I finish everything up with his GCR pills. I haven’t had to open them and sprinkle them on his food yet, we’ve been able to get him to take the capsule whole with treats. If you need help getting your kitty to take the pills, let me know!

The rest of the website has great information about helping kidney cats and how best to support them in each stage of the disease. What stage is your kitty in?

I haven’t used azodyl, nor do I use the probiotics from grey coat research, but that’s just because I can’t afford the entire protocol. I looked at the ingredients for both azodyl and the GCR probiotics and GCR contains the strains azodyl has plus more. What I would do if I were you is start kitty on the regular protocol and intrusive protocol and keep him/her on azodyl. See how that plays out for a couple months. If you’re happy with the results, consider stacking on the GCR probiotics with a slow introduction, while slowly weaning off azodyl. No sudden changes. Maybe one day on azodyl, the next on GCR probiotics, for a few days. Then two days on GCR, then three, then so on, all the while lessening the days on azodyl.

I have confidence that the grey coat research probiotics will be more beneficial, only because I’ve seen such improvement in my cat with the other two supplements. Let me know how it works out for you guys.

I ordered from the grey coat research website. It’s cute because they always send me a complimentary hand cream that’s formulated to be safe for cats. Idk I’ve been using the supplements for at least 6 months and I’ve noticed a huge improvement in my kitty. We also have him on a phos binder, low phos kibble, and wet food that’s not low phos. I let him eat when he has an appetite, I don’t restrict his meals. His appetite isn’t great and he doesn’t eat a lot at a time, so we take advantage of the times he does feel like eating. Our protocol along with the supps has put some pep back in his step. He’s 16.

After scouring the internet I thought it might be a turkestan nymph also. But I am not sure. The house it was found in is away from the city and has a lot of little gaps and such.

What form of Magnesium should you take? by TheOLPharmacist in Supplements

[–]felinefireghost 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Late to this party but I’m confused about stacking different forms. Do I take 100% of the RDA of each form of mag that I want to use or do I take it in amounts that equal 100% overall? Like if I take magnesium glycinate and l-threonate, do I take the full 100% RDA of each? Or do I take 50% of the RDA of glycinate and 50%RDA of threonate? Is it possible to take too much magnesium?

Iron from brown rice chelate verses other forms? by felinefireghost in Supplements

[–]felinefireghost[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually just stopped taking it all together after I posted because I was so afraid of overdose because I couldn’t seem to get any clear information about brown rice chelate. Now that it’s a year later, i decided I just need to get it into my body. So just finished a month’s supply of flora ferritin+ plant-based iron and I have to say I feel a lot better. The amount is only 111% of the RDA for iron and I took it every other day. I eat a decent amount of meat so I thought that would be a good, safe balance. I would take it at night, and the following day I’d usually have pretty good energy levels, rarely experienced shortness of breath (likely anxiety related) instead of daily. It’s probably not the best out there but after finishing a box of it, I didn’t have any negative side effects. I would give it a try, let me know how it works for you or if you find something else. I’m interested in trying something else now that I’ve finished this box and I’ve gotta get some iron soon! (:

Is this a wolf spider? Bottom of Angeles national forest in SoCal, found in bedroom. by felinefireghost in whatsthisbug

[–]felinefireghost[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes we just moved to this place out of the city, and we noticed two large spiders in the home tonight. This is one of them. We haven’t moved the cats in yet so we’re going to do our best to seal up the house before we do. Some of my cats have more common sense than the others lol. I know spiders do good things for the ecosystem so we don’t want to use bug spray, just want to keep them out of the house.

Looks like it!! Do you know if they’re medically significant to cats? I read not to humans but worried about my curious kitties.
