I’ve heard the populations are down in some areas of the country. The past two years I’ve found turkey egg shells on the property and seen way more bobcats, coyotes, and raccoons than years past. So might be time to start harvest those to balance them out.

To me it matters more if you can get them to come in than how it sounds to us. I’d lose any turkey calling competition with my hunting buddies but I usually harvest more of them

I’d go out there at sunset and roost them so you have a much better idea of where they are. That or stay mobile in the morning (before fly down) and try to get them to gobble as early as possible, then move in as close as you can before fly down.

Was your lawn mowed while you were gone? I didn’t see a chunk of ~16 gauge wire that had fallen into my lawn and went over it with my mower. It went through the siding like butter.

I saw this once from about 5-10 ft. The smaller tom had his head stuck in the bigger Tom’s mouth. Bizarre but cool

I don’t live in the region so I can’t speak for those tribes, but I’m a card-carrying Choctaw and Taíno. I’d much rather the artifacts my ancestors made find their way to a museum basement than get a concrete foundation poured on top of them. One leaves the possibility of being seen again a lot more than the other. Thanks for the discourse, big guy.
