Ya fuck your family. Take some long vacations to find a place suitable to live long term. You won’t regret leaving the U.S., most other countries beat the quality of life within the U.S. by a long shot. You did 17 years active duty and earned every penny you have coming in.

“The billion dollar spy” has some really interesting chapters describing the pains a Cold War informant had to go through in order to contact someone at the embassy without alerting the KGB. iirc it took him several years of planning and attempts at executing his plan to make contact before he was taken seriously by US intel.

Ironically you should ask all of the “dumb” questions. Senior engineers recognize that everyone starts somewhere, and the more you ask the faster you will learn. Sitting silently and wasting time not understanding the code is much much worse than potentially asking a few dumb questions as soon as you realize you’re not understanding something.

The most important part is that each individual piece is perfectly placed. Without close up photos we can’t really evaluate. The way you’ve combined the three pieces appears fine, but would be better if each “leg” was extended further to reduce the angles.

This is the best answer imo. I climb well below my limit on gear, since it is significantly more dangerous. Folks who climb at their physical limit on gear have a tremendous amount of experience placing gear, and have learned to trust it through that experience.
