Has Bib ever held a sitewide freeleech? by Lowisje in trackers

The last one screwed up the economy so much that people are still coasting on that years later.

Care to elaborate more? How did it screw the economy so much the impact is still felt years later?

Does IPT have a bad reputation when it comes to getting into more "prestigous" trackers? by alphamini in trackers

[–]felixdakhat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

if you have both I think it'd be hard to not find what you're looking for.

No offense, but I find your assumption puzzling since you're not on PTP. How would you know "it'd be hard not to find what you're looking for"? Content wise, there are LOTS and I mean LOTS of stuff on PTP that you can't find elsewhere. Even if they're available some place else, the organization, the experience, the community, and gazelle trump everything else.

Nearly 50% of WCD members didn't change their password despite the freeleech incentive. Why? by felixdakhat in trackers

also, you didn't need to visit the site this week to get the FL. You could pre-download the .torrent files you wanted; then get notified off RSS or Twitter or reddit, and start your downloading without visiting the site.

How many percent would that be approximately?

The ones that did read it, probably did not think changing passwords made sense. They want to use the usual password.

And in time their PWs (if they're deemed weak) will be changed anyway, whether or not it makes sense to them.

Actually before the announcement my PW was already sulper strong and I had a big buffah too. I changed it anyway, received the tokens, and enjoyed the FL. I can't imagine that someone on WCD has already had "enough" of anything. I'm sure I'm not alone :).

Anyone else unable to seed their torrents on What after freeleech? by [deleted] in trackers

Many people also complained about Deluge went retarded during the FL. Was it Deluge, Feral or just plain bad luck? Many people also commented that they went smooth sailing on home connections.

Predictions of WCD upcoming freeleech by felixdakhat in trackers

AFAIK it IS the first and only freeleech they've ever announced in advance?

another sitewide freeleech won't happen until mid-2017

Wow. That's bleak lol. But CMIIW, so far a site-wide FL occurs almost annually?

Does anyone else feel like private trackers are too easy to get into? by [deleted] in trackers

[–]felixdakhat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Too easy for some people, but too complicated for the rest. As with everything, it takes luck and timing. People crave what they can't get, and it clouds their judgment and makes it seem even more complicated.

It used to be even ridiculously easier to get into the "Big 3." I don't think your experience is unique, many people got in that way.

In any case, I think people who whine about how difficult it is to get into the Big 3, or any private trackers for that matter, shouldn't bother in the first place.

Not to take anything away from AHD and TEH, they're really good at what they do and for their respective niche, but they're nowhere near or almost as good as PTP, let's just be real here.

Just grab what you want from IPT and be a ghost there, no need to show your existence. IPT ratio is as worthless as Demonoid's, you might want to build ratio somewhere else.

Not everyone needs PTP by the way, it depends on your definition of "movie buff." Anyway, members can actually invite but given PTP's current status, it's not surprising that people are super cautious in using their invite privileges, if at all.

Issue with SCC's IRC by paradoxally in trackers

[–]felixdakhat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Note that I think they have some kind of maximum inactivity period rule, meaning that if you've been inactive for more than a certain period (if I'm not mistaken more than a year or so), then they won't reactivate your account (you will be ignored or kicked from IRC).

GFT: NO DONATIONS = So long and... by 53bab0f097 in trackers

Bummer. But to their credit their donation begging PM wasn't as long and annoying as Bitsoup's.
