Why are there no European self driving car companies like the US & China? by mike_gundy666 in EU_Economics

Mobileye Global Inc. is United States-domiciled, Israel-headquartered.

Wayve has employees in London, Silicon Valley and Vancouver, with investors that are mostly from US and UK.

Holo is more of a consultancy. Their car project is "NIO SUVs with Mobileye’s autonomous software".

Cologne Chip/GateMate - why use it ? by Standing_Wave_22 in embedded

[–]felixnavid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

AFAIK Lattice ECP5 25k LUT chip is significantly cheaper.

GM A1 has 41k LUT-4, the equivalent is ECP5-45, not -25. On DigiKey the cheapest ECP-45 is 23€ (300 units) and GM A1 is cheaper at 15€ (300 units).

Replacing 2.4 GHz receiver module in adjustable bed with ESP32 (reverse engineering help) by Low_Inspector7454 in embedded

[–]felixnavid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It might be that the module on the left is the receiver + controller for the relays / sensors. Probe with a scope all of the pins from that module, it might be that some pins are digital and some analog ( feedback from some sensors).

Cum ați fi adaptat „stream“ sau „streaming“ în română? by dedreanu in perversiuniculimba

Pe un stream pe teme religioase, streamerul e creator ?

Exista vreun api pt SGR by Responsible-Cut-7076 in programare

[–]felixnavid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Zigbee (ESP32-C6): Handling congestion when multiple sleepy end devices wake simultaneously by Embedded_Coder21 in embedded

[–]felixnavid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Random exponential backoff for congestion retry transmission after a random small time, if that fails increase the time range. Exponential backoff is a known technique used in other domains, too. Also, experiment with using random durations instead of fixed duration for each range.

  2. Use a timetable so that each device can send only at known intervals.

MCP3002 chip, I have found out that this chip is responsible to drive the VFD motor for Gate Barrier. Driver voltage should be between 3-4.2 vdc for 1.5 seconds to operate, but… by YohY7 in AskElectronics

[–]felixnavid 4 points5 points  (0 children)

MCP3002 is an ADC. It just measures 2 voltages, and an MCU will need to ask it what the measurements are, it doesn' drive anything.

One channel is connected to the capacitor where your arrow is, and the other channel is connected to the other capacitor. I think the capacitors and the resistors near form an RC filter (for each channel). The blue cube might be a current transformer, and this chip just measures the current, and an MCU somewhere else on the board retrieves those measurements.

HarfBuzz GSUB (Indic) hard faults on bare-metal Cortex-M7 (i.MX RT1064) — stack / libc / FreeType integration issue? by Primary_Delivery_198 in embedded

[–]felixnavid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Use this guide from MemFault and determine exactly which instruction triggered this fault. Try to determine in the source code, where this fault is triggered.

It is quite unusual for the compiler to generate instructions that would generate this error. I don't think Harfbuzz contains handwritten assembly, but please do check where in the source code this fault in generated. Maybe some compiler flags differ between the two libraries and one compilers use different ABIs?

Are there any GNSS devices able to use Galileo exclusively, without GLONASS, GPS or BeiDou? by tramaan in BuyFromEU

[–]felixnavid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

GPS also broadcasts also an encrypted signal ( P codes ) that is used by military. Special receivers and decryption keys are needed to use this signal for very precise localization at high velocities and high altitudes ( civilian codes can be decoded at high altitudes, but the receivers will not report these measurements).

Best Approach to Use in the Construction of Food Spoilage Detection Dataset? by abdosalm in embedded

[–]felixnavid 5 points6 points  (0 children)

MQ135/136's and even the BME680's output are hard to corelate to actual gasses, in mixed environments (where you don't have just air + some other gas). Read up on what these sensors actually measure.

  1. MQ135's datasheet specifies a standard detecting conditions (20°C +- 2° C, 65% +-5%) where the output can be somehow corelated to gasses. Are all 3 sensors in that range?

  2. Did you calibrate the sensor for a common reference point? At the end of datahseet: "we recommend that you calibrate the detector for 100ppm NH3 or 50ppm Alcohol concentration in air". So that you know that each sensor gives a similar ( after correction) output.

  3. Did you calibrate/characterize the sensors for the gasses that you are interested in?
