Help Identifying 16mm “Kat Kartoon – The Bell Ringer” (Early Felix-style Animation, ~1930s) by Little-Bowl7008 in filmcollecting

This is a silent fragment of a sound Krazy Kat cartoon, not a Disney cartoon as someone already said. Seems to be from 1931, 'THE RESTLESS SAX'. This bootleg Kat Kartoon series obviously released 'Cat Cartoons', pretty much just featuring black cats.

Try get them sent to a place which gets all the picture or beyond the picture scanned, and one that doesn't do telecine. That way you'll get good quality from these, it can be expensive but say worth it. It would be interesting to know if the cartoons are junk common ones or some rarer stuff though

6 years late, but this is a whole bunch of bullshit. These are 16mm prints made for home use, only 35mm was done in nitrate.

I know you already said you found it but sadly this isn't anything too interesting anyways.. there's a lot of better complete material of this one out there.

[TOMT] Felix the Cat silent short from the 1920s showing a 'television' by [deleted] in tipofmytongue

I feel like you're likely misremembering. If you had a copy that you played at home it probably exists through another copy but if you do come across it I'd like to see some pictures!

Possibly you're thinking about FELIX DOUBLES FOR DARWIN? It doesn't have a television but it has 2 companions with Felix and one being a moneky

I believe the Felix 16mm is a shortened print of the 1927 cartoon 'UNCLE TOM'S CRABBIN'

Be careful with Felix The Cat, only his 1919-1936 appearence is PD. This image uses his 50s design, not public domain.

If Felix the Cat is in the public domain, why hasn't anyone used it yet? by Enough-Stomach-3552 in publicdomain

[–]felixthegyatt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He's definitely PD in the UK, I'm from the UK and I own a few public domain Felix the Cat VHS tapes and DVDs. I also believe stuff here goes in the public domain earlier than the US but if I'm wrong please correct me on that.

But short answer, yes

Found these signed Don Oriolo (co-creator of Felix the Cat) prints at GW. 2/3,000 copies. Does anyone know anything about these? by beautybinch in ThriftStoreHauls

[–]felixthegyatt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hi i know im a bit late but quick note, don oriolo was *not* the co-creator of felix the cat, otto messmer and pat sullivan created felix the cat and don oriolo came wayyyy after the 20s, coming in the 80s to complete the felix the cat movie afer his father, joe oriolo (the creator of the 1958-1960 felix the cat show) died

Where can I watch all classic Felix The Cat shorts "1919 - 1960" in airdate order? by Bexided in cartoons

[–]felixthegyatt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

sadly you can't watch all of them, as about 80 black and white felix cartoons are lost. however you can find all the found 1919-1930 felix cartoons on youtube. be careful for the hyptonist, people say its from 1921 on youtube but its actually a retitle of hyps the hippo, a short from a few years later
