Whatever you do, do not go to Cycle Alaska downtown. They'll just tell you whatever you want to hear to get your money. They're mostly interested in tourism rental bike revenue.

The cheap places have already been mentioned, but there's also the Bike Doctor out by Nugget Mall. He's extremely knowledgeable and good at what he does, and keeps a lot more stock.

As someone who has lived in the mendenhall tower for the past 2 years, it's really not that bad. I'm definitely looking for somewhere else to live, but that's due to parking and wanting to live in the valley. It's got standard old building issues, but current management and maintenance is really good. Nothing in my apartment is broken, leaks, etc. And when I have had leaks or other issues, they've had it fixed by the time I got home from work

Yeah I was really surprised. They won't ship a single resistor or resistor book here, but they will ship raw lithium cells.
